The new season premieres on Netflix in 2026!
I’m as surprised as anyone that Netflix series Bloodhounds is getting a second season. I didn’t expect as much considering the story arc of the first season provided enough closure, but to see another round of action and drama well on the way is a nice little pick-me-up to start the new year. Jason Kim of Officer Black Belt fame is returning to the show, back at the helm as writer and director for a cast once again led by Woo Do-hwan and Lee Sang-yi, along with the new addition of recording artist Jung Ji-hoon – a.k.a. Rain (Ninja Assassin). Studio N is producing the series along with Seven O Six, and Ghost Studio, based on Jeong Chan’s hit webtoon of the same name. Read last week’s announcement below for more, and feel free to revisit my review of the first season here. The production and cast of Bloodhounds Season […]
Need a little more Korean action excitement? Step out of the arena and into the streets for Officer Black Belt, the latest from “Bloodhounds” shepherd Jason Kim. The film stars Kim Woo-bin and Kim Sung-kyun and hits all the faces streaming on Netflix beginning September 13. This was especially one I’ve been looking forward to since last year. Kim’s work on Bloodhounds sold me, and Woo-bin’s starpower equally drew me as an impressive action lead. He was great in Netflix series “Black Knight” and is equally fantastic in the Alienoid films as well, so this is a welcome treat. A martial arts officer protects the safety of civilians by preventing crime and electronically monitoring individuals at a high risk of reoffending. Kim Woo-bin plays Lee Jung-do, a multi talented martial artist who always helps a person in need. Although Jung-do is an ordinary young man uh who prioritizes fun and […]
On the count that as you’re reading this then you’re already familiar with the hit Netflix series “Bloodhounds”, be advised to take director Jason Kim’s next offering into consideration as casting is announced for Officer Black Belt, with Kim Woo-bin (Alienoid) and Kim Sung-kyun (Seoul Vibe). In this upcoming film, top star Kim Woo-bin (from Black Knight) portrays the unique character of a martial arts prodigy who has an impressive total of nine dans (meaning ranks) in Taekwondo, Kendo, and Judo. This ordinary yet extraordinary young man with a knack for crime detection is expected to enthrall audiences with his blend of charm and martial prowess. The story kicks off with Kim Woo-bin’s character saving a ‘martial arts officer’ from a criminal’s assault. That’s an officer who partners with a probation officer solely for physically dangerous situations. As a result of this brave rescue, Kim Woo-bin’s character is made a […]
Bloodhounds is now streaming on Netflix The fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic saw plenty of reports emerge spotlighting criminals taking advantage of people during desperate times. A little research on my end made me realize just how real this was in South Korea – something to consider with Netflix series Bloodhounds, and the 2019 webtoon that the series is inspired by. The series is directed by Jason Kim (a.k.a. Kim Joo-hwan) whose treatment sets things in motion during late 2020. I can’t quite pinpoint where this fits in the webtoon since I’ve never consumed it, and so I can only gauge the series on its own merits. To start, however, I can earnestly state that the first episode delivers a fine, brisk introduction to both sides of the series. Kim Gun-woo (Woo Do-hwan) is one of the first characters we meet. He’s humble, virtuous and soft-spoken, and typically a good […]
Well Go USA Writer/director Jason Kim’s fourth and latest film brings the ultimate battle between good and evil to the big screen with supernatural thriller, The Divine Fury. Rejoining his Midnight Runners actor Park Seo-Joon, fans are in for a dark, supernatural tale that runs on plenty of pathos to couple with otherworldly intrigue, and a touch of gore and gruesome imagery to boot. Martial arts action is merely the icing on the cake for the spectacle and drama that Kim takes aim at for The Divine Fury, specifically showcasing a mixed-martial arts trained character. Not a whole lot of MMA gets exhibited here for Seo-joon’s portrayal, but it’s plenty enough in terms of invoking fisticuffs with super-sized battles involving a few wire gags, practical effects and average-to-fair CG to amplify things. For all this, Seo-joon takes the wheel in the role of Yong-hu, an undefeated MMA champion at the […]

Lotte Director Jason Kim is onto his third directorial outing with the forthcoming release of his new cop-in-training comedy, Midnight Runners.
