Coming soon from Umbrella Entertainment is Suka, the new Asian/Australian gangster thriller starring Jenny Wu (Lady Bloodfight, Australia Day). The film is directed by Heidi Lee Douglas from a script she penned with Lily Cheng and Tsu Shan Chambers, and with action sequences by NSW-based stunt coordinator Jackie Murray (Gold, Wyrmwood: Apocalypse). BROUGHT TOGETHER BY FATE, PULLED APART BY FAMILY In Western Sydney where crime gangs rule, the Yang clan’s thirst for power continues to threaten the lives of many. The Dawood family is their only line of defence against them. Wasiya, the Dawood matriarch, stealthily forges alliances to quash the hold of the Yang family – led by their patriarch, Jun– who murdered her husband when she was heavily pregnant. Suka also stars Ethan Browne, Grace Huang, Jenny Wu, Paul He, and Tsu Shan Chambers. Pre-orders are now available for the film’s DVD ahead of its release in October.

The latest image for upcoming independent miniseries/feature, Suka, is circulating featuring actress Jenny Wu (Australia Day) as cameras began rolling as recently as last week. The cast also includes Paul He (Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Grace Huang (The Man with the Iron Fists), Ethan Browne (Home and Away) and Tsu Shan Chambers (Unsound). According to Variety Australia’s Vivienne Kelly last Wednesday, Suka is “set in Western Sydney, telling the fictional story of the Yang clan’s thirst for power, which continues to threaten the lives of many. The production of director Chris Nahon‘s new tournament action thriller, Lady Bloodfight, is set to resume at some point between later this month and February. Not all the details are being handed out just yet, although we’ve already been graced with a number of viral photos dating back to late last year with Nahon joined by actress Amy Johnston, producer Bey Logan and action choreographer Hung Yan Yan and others. Nowadays, with filming almost right around the corner, Logan is currently unveiling four new promotional character photos for two of the film’s actresses, Kathy Wu as Wai and Jet Tranter as Cassidy.
