Actor John Malkovich (Valley Of The Gods, Ava) leads an additional list of names joining Bruce Willis-led actioner, White Elephant. News of the film broke on Thursday through mainstream trade outlets also hailing actress Olga Kurylenko (The Courier) and Michael Rooker (The Suicide Squad) from a script by Erik Martinez, and action stalwart Jesse V. Johnson (Avengement, Triple Threat) who directs. The film, currently shooting in Georgia, also stars actor Vadhir Derbez (The Seventh Day), who plays Carl, a burgeoning assassin who botches his latest job, forcing his mentor, ex-marine-turned-mob enforcer Gabriel Tancredi (Willis) to mitigate his conscience and code of honor in order to set things right. The film also reteams Johnson with Debt Collectors co-stars Josef Cannon and Louie “Ski” Carr. Corey Large (Cosmic Sin, It Follows, The November Man, Lone Survivor) is producing the film for 308 Enterprises. The Exchange is handling international sales. Follow Johnson on Instagram for […]
Jon Keeyes (The Harrowing) is currently busy with independent action thriller, Red 48, with word that production is close to wrapping this week. As Borys Kit at THR notes, Tyrese Gibson is headlining the pic along with Michael Jai White and John Malkovich from a script by Mickey Solis. The film reportedly centers on Kyle Snowden, “a troubled former Marine turned child protective service officer who must save an immigrant child from a dangerous criminal who has trapped them and other hostages inside a convenience store. Adding more power to the keg: The store is owned by the Snowden’s stepfather, Sam Safty, being played by Malkovich. White plays Sparks, the Safty’s no-nonsense bodyguard and confidant.” Gibson is also producing with Keeyes, along with Yale Productions’s Jordan Yale Levine and Jordan Beckerman. Jesse Korman is co-producing for Yale, whose Michael Rothstein is exec producing with the following: Zachary Tarica of The […]
When I received an email about a fantasy/sci-fi drama including a writer, the Navajo community, an ancient legend, and Josh Hartnett, I knew I had to see the film. I sent out my screener request immediately and am glad to report that I was not disappointed in Well Go USA Entertainment’s latest: Valley of the Gods. Here is the official synopsis: Starring Josh Hartnett, Bérénice Marlohe and John Malkovich, VALLEY OF THE GODS contrasts abundance and poverty through three separate storylines, featuring a middle-class writer (Hartnett), an eccentric trillionaire (Malkovich), and a struggling Navajo community. Post-divorce, copywriter John Ecas undertakes the biography of the richest man on earth, who is dead-set on mining sacred lands for uranium. When modern advance runs afoul of long-dormant guardians from ancient legend, even the most unimaginable wealth may soon meet its match. I am a big believer in viewers forming their own opinions on […]
Well Go USA has acquired Valley Of The Gods (Dolina Bogòw), the 2019 fantasy drama epic from acclaimed Polish-American filmmaker Lech Majewski. The Josh Harnett/John Malkovich ensemble feature will have a physical and digital release on August 11, 2020, and also stars Bérénice Marlohe (Skyfall), Keir Dullea (2001: A Space Odyssey) and John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings trilogy). Per the company’s announcement, Valley Of The Gods “contrasts opposing social extremes—namely abundance and poverty––through three separate storylines, which revolve around a middle-class writer, an eccentric trillionaire and members of a struggling nearby Navajo community. After a difficult divorce, copywriter John Ecas (Josh Harnett) takes on the biography of the richest man on earth (John Malkovich), who is both his boss and the man behind a plan to mine sacred Navajo lands for uranium. However, when modern advancement runs afoul of the long-dormant protectors warned of in ancient legend, even the […]
Writer and director Clark Duke’s new movie and screen-acting credit, Arkansas, won’t be bowing before SXSW audiences as initially planned. Lionsgate has its own plans though, with an official trailer now running, and a limited theatrical, VOD, Apple TV+ and Amazon release date set for May 1, followed by a Blu-Ray and DVD rollout on May 5. In Clark Duke’s directorial debut, Kyle (Liam Hemsworth) and Swin (Clark Duke) live by the orders of an Arkansas-based drug kingpin named Frog (Vince Vaughn), whom they’ve never met. Posing as junior park rangers by day, they operate as low-level drug couriers by night under the watchful eye of Frog’s proxies (John Malkovich and Vivica A. Fox). Swin then settles into his day job by taking up a relationship with Johnna (Eden Brolin) against orders to blend in while Kyle continues to question his night job by trying to figure out who Frog […]
Paul Solet’s new crime thriller is getting a theatrical release on December 8. I speak of Bullet Head following its acquisition by Saban back in September and a trailer has been online for several days now sampling a bit of the essential kinetic chills and thrills to be expected. For this, we get Adrien Brody, John Malkovich and Rory Culkin starring in a story among other intertwining stories that focus on love, fear and conditioning, and the wrong turns that tend to have us land in the dog house. Save for further largess on the matter, the dog hunting our cast down is most certainly pissed. Antonio Banderas also stars in this one – Can’t say I know why but clearly his badass screen persona here lends something cool and wicked to viewers. Check out the trailer:
At the moment, actor Liam Hemsworth is being hyped to take on intergalactic aliens in director Roland Emmerich’s upcoming return to the sci-fi fray for a follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster, Independence Day. While we await further information in that regard however, the official trailer for A24’s latest acquisition, Cut Bank, is finally making the rounds online following its film festival run with Hemsworth starring as the lead. SYNOPSIS: Dwayne McLaren (Liam Hemsworth) dreams about escaping small town life in Cut Bank, Montana, “the coldest spot in the nation,” with his vivacious girlfriend Cassandra (Teresa Palmer). When Dwayne witnesses an awful crime, he tries to leverage a bad situation into a scheme to get rich quickly but he finds that fate and an unruly accomplice are working against him. Thrust into the middle of a police investigation spearheaded by the local sheriff (John Malkovich), everything goes from bad to worse […]
