Jon Alagoa and Shinji Ishigaki star in the new indie action short from director Aeddan Sussex.
Award-winning indie director Aeddan Sussex is moving ahead with shortfilm, Killer 11, I can report as of Monday. Sussex is reteaming with actor and martial artist Jon Alagoa and a number of others as the team readies a crowdfuding campaign upon finalizing a budget and locations. Alagoa, who previously collaborated with Sussex on their 2023 project, Haste as writer and choreographer, will play the lead role of a hitman looking to climb up the ranks by going after his next target, “Killer 10”. Killer 11 also brings aboard Shinji Ishigaki, who previously worked with Sussex on 2018 kung fu comedy, Chopsticks!!, and Thomas Smart, who also collaborated with Alagoa on their earlier Kiwami webseries shorts. I’m told the project is described as dark in tone with a touch of absurdist comedy in a few areas, coupled primarily with swordplay action and some hand-to-hand between the performers. The short will also […]
Two years after crowdfunding, shooting, and completing post-production on Haste, director Aeddan Sussex’s new action short is now online for the masses to take a gander at. That’s five minutes of snackable action and drama featuring UK stunt cats Jon Alagoa and Danny Darwin, with choreography by Alagoa, and a score by Justin Bell (The Matrix Resurrections, Cloud Atlas). Two rivals are brought together for a pre-arranged fight. While one man is reluctant, he becomes incensed once his foe reveals a secret, and will have to battle to discover the truth behind it. Festivals weren’t completely out of the question for this project with its entry last year at London’s Fighting Spirit Film Festival, winning the category of Best Short Film 10 Minutes And Under. That’s five award-winning minutes of lithe storytelling in a truncated period of time now at your disposal in the player below. Enjoy!
UK actors and stunt performers Jon Alagoa and Danny Darwin have been on our radar before with some of their work and they’re back nowadays with another shortfilm project on the way with Haste. The two star for award-winning independent director Aeddan Sussex whose credits include Potty The Plant and kung fu comedy Chopsticks!!. ‘HASTE’ showcases a clash between two fighters, Ryan & Nathan. Rivals forced to battle for an underground organisation. Ryan is hesitant until a revelation about his opponent sends him into a rage. The project was crowdfunded and shot during the pandemic last year and his currently in post-production through July when we could see a teaser go live. You’re welcome to check out the poster below and follow Sussex on Instagram to keep up with his progress.
