New Trailer For Dredd-Inspired Series, CURSED EDGE

The final push is underway as independent filmmaker Oliver Hollingdale continues post-production work on Cursed Edge. The project began in late 2012, inspired by the call for fans to help continue epic story of the future lawmaker after successful home release sales numbers and cult fanfare since the theatrical release of the Pete Travis-directed 3D thriller, Dredd, last September, despite its failure to deliver at the box office. Other Dredd-inspired projects and efforts by independent filmmakers have made their way online, including the recently broadcasted short film, Judge Minty. Director Oliver Hollingdale Takes You To The Edge In The New Shortfilm Trailer For JUDGE DREDD: CURSED EDGE

Fan appreciation for the classic comic book character, Judge Dredd, has continued to increase since the release of the September 2012 theatrical reboot, Dredd 3D. Soon enough, as expectations of a sequel dissipated, indie filmmaker Oliver Hollingdale has been chronicling his efforts at his independent production company, Sunnymeade Films, to tap into shortfilm territory, working to reviving the magic brought on the big screen by Pete Travis last year. Today, after teasing his followers on Facebook and Twitter for months non-end, Hollingdale finally unveiled a new trailer for his own short film take on the futuristic law enforcer titled Cursed Edge. It stars Damien Gerard, Jade Rambaut, Darren Carver, Kiarnie Camp and Rain McCormack, with a music score by Cyle Hendricks. And now, hammering the last nail in the coffin is news we can pretty much file in the “No s#!+” category is the word from Charles Webb at MTV Geek according to producer Adi Shankar that the sequel to the 2012 cult fan favorite smash, Dredd 3D is invariably dead. The news comes as several independent filmmakers are making efforts to perform their own take on the vision from Alex Garland and Pete Travis shared in their film released last year from independent company, DNA, and distributed by Lionsgate, starring actor Karl Urban in the title role of the futuristic law enforcer alongside actress Olivia Thirby and the film’s villainous femme fatale played by Lena Heady. Filmmaker Oliver Hollingdale took to Facebook this afternoon to announce a challenge to Dredd fans who have been long waiting for either the development of a sequel, or fan films by independent filmmakers of recent. Late last year, Hollingdale began pre-production of his inspired take on the comic-book movie character, built off the envisioned look in the 2012 film from director Pete Travis. If you are familiar with the story, you pretty much understand that there very well may not be a sequel. But that has not stopped fans and followers from wanting more of that luster and creativity brought to life last year with actor Karl Urban serving Mega City One as the ultimate judge, jury and executioner.
