SLEEPING DOGS: Karen Gillan And More Cast For Russell Crowe-Led Oz Crime Pic

Cameras have begun rolling in Australia for crime thriller, Sleeping Dogs, casting Karen Gillan to join the Russell Crowe starrer from Nickel City Pictures partnering and Highland Film Group. Casting additions also include Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings trilogy), Harry Greenwood (The Nightingale) and Thomas M. Wright (Universal Pictures’ Everest). Adam Cooper makes his directorial debut on the pic from a script he wrote alongside Bill Collage following their work on Assassins Creed, and Exodus: Gods and Kings. Mark Fasano of Nickel City Pictures produces next to Cooper and Collage, along with Deborah Glover and Pouya Shabazian of New Leaf Literary. Matthew Goldberg and Cliff Roberts are exec producing, in addition to Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier and Ford Corbett whose Highland will rep world sales at EFM. Based on E.O. I say this in lieu of what now comes in form of sci-fi thriller, Dual, offering twice the Karen Gillan for the price of admission when it releases in theaters April 15. RLJE Films is proudly out now with an official trailer which you can view above, cerebral, witty and compelling without all the Bayhemisms of The Island and so forth. Upon receiving a terminal diagnosis, Sarah opts for a cloning procedure to ease her loss on her friends and family. I haven’t been able to catch Big Bad Wolves, so I don’t have a reference to go by when discussing anything prior to the latest solo-directing work of that film’s co-helmer, Navot Papushado. Going forward, I can only speak instinctively and defer to my natural responses for a film like Gunpowder Milkshake, an assassin thriller that undoubtedly attempts at following a formula to success. The uncertainty here, really, is that the formula isn’t its own which kind of makes things a bit problematic, even for a genre of film that’s about as escapable as breathing or standing.
