Tsutsumi's SANADA TEN BRAVES Lands A Behind-The-Scenes Featurette

Director Tsutsumi Yukihiko is the go-to guy this year for the latest iteration of Sanada Ten Braves. The film is finally stamped with a September 22 release in Japan, and with a cast comprised in part with a few from its preceding 2015 stage play, including Tsutsumi himself, and actors Nakamura Kankuro, and Mozu co-star Matsuzaka Tori. Set at the end of the Sengoku period to early Edo period, “Sanada Ten Braves” follows 10 members of a ninja group who all serve under samurai warrior Yukimura Sanada. The first teaser has been out since March but we now have a new behind-the-scenes featurette courtesy of Nikkatsu which you can view below!

Director Hashimoto Hajime’s latest, Zebra, looks about as violent and eccentric as one would enjoy in a Japanese gangster thriller, all courtesy of manga author Obata Fumio’s 2010 publication which explains some of the peculiar costuming. Actor Ryusei Ryo leads the cast with a script by Takahashi Izumi that centers on an extortionist who mistakenly targets an unassuming member of the Yakuza…big mistake. The new teaser trailer has arrived and offers good and plenty to give interest to. Suga Kenta, Hinami Kyoko, Takahashi Maryjun, and a sinister-looking, grey-haired Kato Masaya round out the cast among others for the film’s May 21 release in Japan.

It’s been a glorious era for fans of Japanese action star and actor Sakaguchi Tak who has all but earned his cult-acclaim in a variety of independent, low budget jidaigeki and action horror features, several of them award-winning in the process. The most noted of them all is director Kitamura Ryuhei’s hit film, Versus, which drew its high profile standing with Sakaguchi and the stylings of action director and stuntman Shimomura Yuji who also has a few directorial credits of his own, including Sakaguchi’s 2005 hit, Death Trance. Alas, things now come full-circle in lieu of Sakaguchi’s retirement with the latest teaser for Re:Born, biproduct of stunt and film production companies Worsal and U’den Flame Works. Live-Action Manga, TERRA FORMARS, Gets A Teaser And Poster

Rarely have I ever come across any sort of controversy when it comes to mangas or anime movies or shows or anything of the sort. To be honest, the only time I ever pay attention to these is if there’s action involved and making it’s way to some kind of film adaptation, and that includes director Miike Takashi‘s latest manga adaptation, Terra Formars. The film is based on the 2011 manga by Tachibana Kenshi and Sasuga Yū which centers on mankind’s peril when Earth and Mars fall victim to earlier efforts to colonize Mars through the use of modified algae and cockroaches. What now lurks on the planet are giant humanoid, and judging by their depictions interpreted in the manga in this article, I can certainly understand how some might deem this to be, well…a little, hmmmm….racist.
