If you’ve been on any movie sites of late, you may have heard whispers about “that movie where Kevin James plays a Nazi” or “Paul Blart plays a scary white supremacist fighting a teenage girl in the woods”. There’s high concept, and then there’s casting an actor to play so hard against type that it forces you to look at them in a different light; that’s this movie. Becky is an angry, nasty bit of violent cinema that is as exhilarating as it is frustrating. Lulu Wilson (Annabelle: Creation) plays Becky, a troubled girl trying to navigate the already volatile world of adolescence while mourning the death of her mother. Her father, played by Joel McHale (Community), is taking her out to the family cabin to get away from it all but he has an ulterior motive; he intends to break the news that she’ll soon have a new stepmom […]
Having not been a huge fan of the Paul Blart movies, I wasn’t really sold on actor Kevin James carrying an action movie, even though I did admire him in Here Comes The Boom in which he does put on a workable show of MMA screen caliber. On that note, we can at least count on actor Kevin James to adapt to other roles that might be appealing to moviegoers, which will hopefully be the case for his next action comedy endeavor, True Memoirs Of An International Assassin from PalmStar Media and Global Film Group. Kick Ass 2 helmer Jeff Wadlow will direct with a story that sees James dodging bullets and bad guys as a lowly accountant and would-be author on the run in Belize when the sudden misprinted publication and popularity of his fictional assassin novel deigns him as the living subject of his own book, forcing him to take on his literary persona, “Colt Rodgers” in order to save the day when he gets embroiled in an assassination conspiracy. PalmStar Media and Merced Media are financing the film which takes the international market at Cannes next […]
