There’s something to be said about the horror genre and all it’s glory as it’s celebrated among festival crowds. Certainly, XYZ Films has taken notice and with the Wyrmwood franchise now landing on the tarmac once more to bring us the official U.S. trailer for Wyrmwood: Apocalypse, which opens digially beginning April 14. The film is the latest feature from Australian sibling film duo Kiah and Tristan Roache-Turner, following their successful inaugural hit, Wyrmwood: Road Of The Dead (2015), and TIFF festival sci-fi darling, Nekromancer (2018). Headlining the cast are Luke McKenzie, Bianca Bradey and Jay Gallagher, along with Shantae Barnes-Cowan (Total Control), Tasia Zalar (Mystery Road), and Nicholas Boshier (Soul Mates). Currently making the festival rounds is horror franchise continuation, Wyrmwood: Apocalypse from Kiah Roache-Turner and Tristan Roache-Turner. Arclight is repping the film internationally just as an official teaser has since begun making the rounds ahead of its Brisbane premiere this weekend. A sequel to the 2015 cult hit Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead, Wyrmwood: Apocalypse is post- apocalyptic zombie film that follows soldier Rhys on an arc of redemption as he turns against his evil bosses and joins forces with a group of rebel survivors to help rescue a girl who might hold the cure to the virus. A sci-fi, action, horror film packed with zombies. The film also has a bit of key art which you can view below courtesy of creator Jefferton James. Kiah Roache-Turner, the venerable mind behind Wyrmwood is back to blow your f*cking head off with the new film, Nekromancer. The film has had a rousing festival run at places like Toronto’s TIFF last year and at Calgary, and we now have an official trailer following its acquisition by Momentum Pictures for a select theatrical, digital HD and VoD release August 9. It’s been a long road for Aussie filmmaking/producing duo, brothers writer/director Kiah and co-writer Tristan Roache-Turner, but now their long-awaited zombie apocalypse thrill ride is ready to make a splash on the big screen for Wyrmwood: Road Of The Dead. The largely independently funded road killer thriller is four years in the making, intially shooting throughout parts of Austrailia over 20 weekends without a script. The film originally landed perpetual acclaim among critics throughout the film festivals last fall with screenings in Busan, Toronto and over at Fantastic Fest in Texas upon landing several release deals since then, including IFC Midnight and Studiocanal for the U.S. and U.K. respectively, and with Anchor Bay/Raven Banner for Canada as of several days ago.
