Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Kill is getting a sequel if producer Gurneet Monga has anything to say about it. The news comes by way of Screendaily whose Ellie Calnan reports via Film Bazaar in Goa on Monday. “We are discussing with Dharma, and Nikhil will be the director,” said Monga, whose credits also include The Lunchbox and Peddlers. “We have lots of ideas brewing and it is deep in development.” Bhat directed the original film starring actor Lakshya in the role of an outnumbered commando battling an army of bandits aboard a train to New Delhi while saving the estranged woman he loves, and her family. Dharma Productions produced along with Monga’s Sikhya Entertainment. The movie held its rousing premiere for the festival crowds in Toronto late last year and took the wheel ahead of a U.S. theatrical release back in July from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. Lionsgate is also involved […]
Just days away from the release of Hindi action thriller, Kill, Deadline’s Anthony D’Alessandro is reporting that a remake is in the works. More specifically, 87Eleven Entertainment and Lionsgate are the companies being detailed as the folks steering its development. 87Eleven is responsible for doling out banner hits in action cinema, making names for the likes of stunt laureates Chad Stahelsli (John Wick franchise), David Leitch (Atomic Blonde, The Fall Guy), and even Jonathan Eusebio (upcoming With Love). With a reimagining of Kill on its radar, the news imaginably adds to the excitement already drawn by the original since its festival run in the past year. Kill stars Lakshya and actress Maniktala as Amrit and Tulika, star-crossed lovers caught in the upheavap of Tulika’s family’s disproval at the start of a train trip to New Delhi for Tulika’s arranged marriage. When armed dacoits take over the train, a violent battle […]
I lost out during its festival circuitry last year as this movie fell out of my reach to cover. Still, like anyone else paying attention, I’m aware of the buzz! The proliferation of Indian stardom has risen to the mainstream on a new level in the past year, and it’s actor Lakshya who gets to ride the wave as the next face of action cinema in the West with Kill, from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. When army commando Amrit (Lakshya) finds out his true love Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage. But when a gang of knife-wielding thieves led by the ruthless Fani (Raghav Juyal) begin to terrorize innocent passengers on his train, Amrit takes them on himself in a death-defying kill-spree to save those around him — turning what should have been […]
Last October was a great time for director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat following the acquisition of his new action thriller, Kill. The Hindi-language thriller is a milestone success for Southeast Asian action cinema among many titles, including the last several years. Nowadays, with Universal Pictures’ Monkey Man leaning in the momentum, Bhat’s new flick has arrived with an official teaser – one ripe with the suitable action beats and gore, and buzzy review quotes to meet the demand. Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions are releasing the film in theaters on July 4. When army commando Amrit (Lakshya) finds out his true love Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage. But when a gang of knife-wielding thieves led by the ruthless Fani (Raghav Juyal) begin to terrorize innocent passengers on his train, Amrit takes them on himself […]
The last several years have been transformative for Indian cinema in the Western world, with Telugu hit RRR planting its feet firmly on a global scale. That puts studios like Lionsgate in a really great position to do what it just did as of Monday when the studio announced its acquisition of Kill, Nikhil Nagesh Bhat’s Hindi-language high-speed action thriller that won fans and critics over from its World Premiere last month in Toronto. Actor Lakshya in his debut lead role headlines Bhat’s action flick centered on a man who boards a passenger train to New Delhi to win over the woman he loves, only to find himself going toe-to-toe in an all out action-packed, bone-crushing and brutal adventure against a gang of bandits. The film also stars Raghav Juyal and Tanya Maniktala. TIFF Programmer Peter Kuplowsky had the following to say in his notes on the thriller: With the […]
Fantastic Fest kicks off in a matter of weeks on September 21. The film is led by celebrated TV actor Lakshya, who stood out for Best Actor at the Lions Gold Awards for 2018 series, “Porus”. In Kill, the actor plays Amrit, an Army commando who must help fend off fourty armed bandits who’ve stormed a train to New Delhi and save the lives of all the passengers on board, including the woman he loves, Tulika (Tanya Maniktala), ahead of an arranged marriage already set in stone by her father. Also starring are Raghav Juyal and Rupesh Kumar Charanpahari.
