Renny Harlin’s new Chinese action adventure, LEGEND OF THE ANCIENT SWORD, opens in China theaters on October 1.
The last several years have proven otherwise fruitful for Renny Harlin who has been digging his feet further into China’s film industry and establishing himself accordingly. He last spoke in 2017 of the often grueling and humbling nature of film productions, his latest being Chinese video game adaptation, Legend Of The Ancient Sword, which is currently slated for an October release. It’s no secret that filmmaking can be a bustling experience no matter how big or small (especially small) the production is, and so he’s probably right. On that note, an official trailer is finally online to showcase a sample of his efforts which will hopefully be the start of a better campaign in wake of the one suffered by Peng Zhang’s Asura this past week at the box office. A low-quality teaser poster is floating online for the project however and it hails from director Qing Guo, telling of a former MMA champion now billionaire corporate royal who pairs up with an investiagtor to uncover a conspiracy involving the deadly illegal tournament that killed his brother. Bodybuilder Kai Greene has gone on social media with a few […]

Alibaba Pictures Group is behind financing and production of the film which Harlin described at the time as a “big, epic fantasy adventure” with the goal of integrating both work spaces of Hollywood and China to help bolster action, VFX and production value in general. With cameras now rolling and official casting announcments to begin in due time, it’s only now that onlookers and readers of […]
