Inspired by a true story in Hong Kong. A young man wrongfully charged with drug trafficking, pleads guilty under undue influence from his defense lawyer, letting the actual convict escaped from penalty. Fok (Donnie Yen), an unconventional prosecutor assigned to the case, firmly believes that the case is full of doubts and decides to conduct a private investigation for the young man. Fok risks his life and career to uncover the truth and bring the real culprit to justice. Alas, we now have the first bits of footage included in a brisk fifteen second tease for The Prosecutor, starring Donnie Yen who shares the producer role with fellow Ip Man cohort Raymond Wong, as well as wearing the action director hat with specialist Kenji Tanigaki. Filmed in 2022 and eventually introduced to the markets the following year, director Chan Tai-Lee is finally making headway this week at FilMart in Hong Kong with crime actioner, Fight For Tomorrow. Mandarin Motion Pictures, who is repping the film internationally, revealed the first teaser last week which you can view at the bottom of the page. Shi Saburo, a former tough guy who has been retired for several years has been working hard to break through difficulties, rediscover meaning in family, friendship and career, and understand the true meaning of tomorrow. Produced by Edmond Wong (Master Z, Breakout Brothers franchise), Chan directs from his own script with a cast led by Patrick Tam, Matthew “Locker” Lam, Mark Cheng, Ying Chiyue, and Sherming You. Panda Plan is the name of the next Jackie Chan headlining action adventure, previously touted in August as “Project P” following suit from the actor’s rollicking 1983 Golden Harvest hit, Project A, and its 1987 sequel. Panda Plan sees Chan in the role of a version of himself – an international action star forced to get involved in a daring rescue mission when a Middle Eastern tycoon hatches a plan to kidnap baby pandas from China zoo, including a rare panda with a dark circle around just one eye. Film details were announced reportedly on the final day of TIFFCOM content market ahead of the next AFM in Los Angeles this week. Movie projects get announced all the time, and some get left on the backburner for years only to circle other directors and stars or never get made at all. That too, has been the case for action star Donnie Yen, and so as always, time will tell if the three action films revealed by Mandarin Motion Pictures at the Cannes market said to feature Yen will come to fruition. According to Screendaily’s Jean Noh, the trio of titles are Flash Point: Resurgence, Ip Man 5, and Misjudgement, and there are no directors and other stars or updates in the mix as of yet. The Lingering director Mak Ho-pong is back with a look at his newest action crime pic, Breakout Brothers. Mandarin Motion Pictures just presented the title for this year’s virtual Busan market and is expected to release the film in Hong Kong from December 3. Edmond Wong and Ng Kin-hung penned the film which centers on “three prisoners who each have their own reasons for plotting a prison break” (via Variety). Starring are P Storm actors Patrick Tam, Louis Cheung, Adam Pak and Justin Cheung, and Cold War 2 actor Kenny Wong.
