THE HIT LIST: February 25, 2019

My weekend was spent loading up on questions for certain individuals in movies, so we’ll see what comes of it in the next thirty days. Not to mention a review but…that one comes Tuesday or hopefully sooner. For now, it’s time to get in some Hits for this week’s installment of The Hit List and we start off with our usual raft of stunt professionals doling out the reel action courtesy of Michaela McAllister whose latest reel is a longer cut from last week. THE HIT LIST: January 7, 2019

I sincerely hope everyone reading this had the best, most memorable Holliday season and New Year they could. It was a bit rocky the last two weeks leading up to my birthday on Friday, but I can’t even begin (try as I may) to illustrate how wonderful it was to attend my first ever ceremonial premiere event for a movie with friends. Indeed, it was a luminous and terrific bookend to a truly, happy birthday – although I do owe Rising Tiger’s Leroy Nguyen a big one this November as I had to leave the event early before I could say all my ‘good nights’. Martial Club’s Andy Le: ‘We Are Making A Martial Club Movie, It’s Gonna Kick Ass And You Better Believe It!’

Stunt performance, martial arts and film troupe, Martial Club, are affirming followers of their channel and social media on plans to make a martial arts feature film. While stunt performer, martial artist and dynamic Instagram kicker Brian Le was the first to give mention to the project earlier this week, his brother, fellow actor, stunt performer and martial artist Andy Le took to their Martial Club YouTube channel to explain the team’s latest updates. “Me, Brian and Daniel [Mah] and our guys have been at this for a really long time.” says Le. “And we’ve been hammering it out, we’ve been training a lot, we’ve been shooting a lot, we’ve been editing a lot, we’ve been doing a lot. Welp, I made good use of my weekend with some great anime on top of work and a pair of reviews. Not much else really. Putting together the hit list was a bit weary since I couldn’t find anything in trailers or things of that nature. Well, at least for me the bad news is that I relapsed again and now I have another cold. That makes two this summer.  The good news is I had stuff to do so I got in some time to write two reviews, one of which you can check out on your own time. THE HIT LIST: June 12, 2017

Probably the best way I can sum up the gist of my weekend is that 76 years and current box office gross of more than $450 million dollars later, I would say that Patty Jenkins has earned her place at the helm of a Wonder Woman sequel and Warner Bros. would be wise to oblige. On to other matters, however, it’s a new week which means it’s time for another installment of the Hit List. Kicking off the first playlist in this week’s stunt reel category is Umar Khan now out with a compilation video in celebration of his recent 35th birthday. THE HIT LIST: May 29, 2017

My weekend was pretty good. I finally managed to relax a little on Saturday and Sunday with some obligatory movie viewing before commencing putting together tonight’s Hit List. Speaking of which, there is a LOT to cover so, let’s get onto it with the latest updated stunt reel by Jazzy Ellis, and other new stunt and training reels by some of today’s top and up-and-coming stunt performers, including Nik Pelekai (more on him later), Kristina Baskett, Kevin Rogers, Kyla Hymas, Cris Fonseca, Christina Howe, Bryan Vigier, Eric C. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED: PART ONE – An Interview With Bao Tran

Going into this article, I found myself at an advantage to finally be able to talk to quite a few people whose work I’ve admired over the years. Bao Tran (who I initially knew as Tran Quoc Bao) came under my radar many years ago around the same time as I came across actor and martial artist, Ken Quitugua when he was appearing in content put out during his time as a key member of the martial arts stunt team that started it all for the online kung fu cinema niche, Zero Gravity.
