RiffTrax Live: MTS3K Hosts To Live Roast Amir Shervan’s SAMURAI COP In Select Theaters In April!

Mark your calendars for a special two-night event this April when Fathom Events and RiffTrax team up for RiffTrax Live: Samurai Cop in select theaters. The event, hosted by MST3K pesonalities Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy, and Bill Corbett, marks the 24th broadcast between both compaines since partnering in 2009 with titles including Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers, as well as horror classic Night Of The Living Dead and MST3K: The Reunion Show. Probably one of the biggest surprises in the last couple of years has been the reemergence of actor Mathew Karedas (a.k.a. Matt Hannon) long after the release of cult classic, Samurai Cop. Crowdfunding has since paved the way for a sequel with a mixed-bag of new and old faces lining up the cast and with a premiere at Laemmle Theaters planned for October 9, director and co-star Hatanaka Gregory‘s Samurai Cop 2: Deadly Vengeance is looking like quite ceremonial feat! It was at some point in the past few years that actor Matt Hannon, thought to have been dead more than two decades after his starring role in Amir Shervan’s 1991 cult hack and slash flick, Samurai Cop, had to proclaim himself once again to the living. And it certainly lended some noteworthy achievement to the notion that there are people who would have wanted a sequel to the first film despite having been buried in history long before being brought back to life on restored DVD through Cinema Epoch. Since then, sequel efforts went underway following a kickstarter push last year with Gregory Hatanaka now set to produce and direct with co-star Mark Frazier also returning.
