Live-Action MONSTER HUNTER Snags Official Plot Details

Production nears as director Paul W.S. Anderson gears up for live-action video game adaptation, Monster Hunter. On Friday, Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) and Toho Co., Ltd. (Toho) took to the masses to announce a few more details about its new feature film endeavor which Anderson is scripting. The press release itself described the plot in brief terms as a film thay will depict two protagonists from different respective worlds who must join forces to fend off monsters and survive. The Monster Hunter game series debut in 2004 and now boasts sales of up to well over 50 million units; its most recent release, Monster Hunter: World, sold a record-setting 10 million units. Joining actress Milla Jovovich, and actors Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, hip-hop artist-turned-actor T.I. EXCLUSIVE: On Tueday evening, Film Combat Syndicate reported an exclusive story essentially tying into news over at The Hollywood Reporter about Screen Gems’ forthcoming production of Capcom video game adaptation, Monster Hunter. Beckoning the involvement of Resident Evil cohorts and producing partners Paul W.S. Anderson, Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer, the film also has actors T.I. Harris and Ron Perlman and actress Milla Jovovich all starring. Jaa took to Twitter to post his arrival in South Africa (as well as an exclusive photo for us which you see above) where production kicks off next month and you can read up on that report by clicking here. The adaptation of the hit 2004 video game IP is now finally taking shape with word that actor and martial artist Tony Jaa will play The Hunter, joining the casting line-up announced earlier this evening at The Hollywood Reporter. For every Monster, there is a Hero. An ordinary man in a dead end job discovers that he is actually the descendant of an ancient hero. He must travel to a mystical world to train to become a Monster Hunter, before the mythical creatures from that world destroy ours. Deadline reported on Monday that Paul W.S. Anderson and producing partner Jeremy Bolt are now well on the way to adapt the hit Capcom video game, Monster Hunter for the big screen. The widely popular game series hailing from Japan for the Playstation 2 first emerged in 2004 and has since succeed with up to a dozen games spanning several consoles and platforms with a thirteenth already on the way for March.
