MAN IN THE LONG BLACK COAT: Director Salvador Litvak In Production With New Western Crime Thriller

The production of Western crime thriller, Man In The Long Black Coat, was announced last week as cameras are currently rolling in Santa Clarita, California. Salvador Litvak (When Do We Eat?) is directing the pic for a cast led by Mark Feuerstein (Royal Pains, Defiance), Neal McDonough (Yellowstone, Captain America: The First Avenger), Dermot Mulroney (Scream 6, My Best Friend’s Wedding), and Christopher Lloyd (Nobody, Back to the Future). Penned by Litvak and co-scribe Nina Davidovich Litvak, Man In The Long Black Coat tells the story of a troubled teen accused of a shocking murder, and the unlikely detective who seeks to prove his innocence and expose a far more sinister truth. I’m coming into this review a bit premature having not yet seen Derek Presley’s Red Stone prior to his latest sequel, Boon. For those in my shoes, contributor Matthew Essary has informed me that you can pretty much watch either/or in any order, describing Boon as an improvement on the original but with a better look, bigger name cast and not much to catch-up in terms of character backstories. One example of this is where we meet Federal Agent Redd (Demetrius Grosse), having set up shop in a small idyllic town to meet up with a source to get the details on the whereabouts of fugitive mercenary, Boon (Neal McDonough). BOON Delivers Stabby, Shoot ‘Em Up Retribution In The Official Trailer

Following acquisition announcements in January, the official trailer is now online for Boon, the sequel to the inaugural 2020 crime thriller, Red Stone. Both are directed by Derek Presley who is joined once more by lead actor Neal McDonough, both who penned the pic. Mercenary Nick Boon (Neal McDonough) is trying to atone for his life as an enforcer for a ruthless syndicate. Running from his past, Boon moves to a remote area in the pacific northwest where he meets a struggling widow (Christiane Seidel) and her son. When he finds the pair living in fear of a criminal kingpin (Tommy Flanagan), Boon realizes the only way to protect them is to do what he does best: Kill. Also starring are Jason Scott Lee, James Madio, Demetrius Grosse and Christina Ochoa. Cinedigm will release the pic in theaters, and on digital and on demand from April 1.

APEX: RLJE Films Announces February Blu-Ray And DVD Release For New Bruce Willis Actioner

AMC Networks’ RLJE Films is announcing the forthcoming home release of Cosmic Sin and Breach helmer Edward Drake’s new actioner, Apex, on DVD and Blu-ray beginning February 8. Co-written by Drake and by Corey Large (The Ninth Passenger), the film stars Bruce Willis as Malone, an ex-cop serving serving a life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit. He is offered a chance at freedom if he can survive a deadly game of Apex, where six hunters pay for the pleasure of hunting another human on a remote island. Once Malone arrives all hell breaks loose, laying traps and playing mind games, battling to turn the tables and fight for his life and his future. The cast also includes Neal McDonough, Lochlyn Munro, Megan Peta Hill and Trevor Gretzky.
