Sahamongkol’s own Sia Jiang may not be putting out the popular action-packed, death-defying and stunt-loaded thrillers that drew fans in like bees to honey back in his Ong Bak and Chocolate heyday. Still, he’s kept himself notably busy since then and his latest endeavor, Necromancer, underscores this notion. This one brings aboard director Piyapan Choopetch (Mu Ex 1 and 2, Hashima Project), whose return here presents this project as maybe something of a reimagined effort from his 2005 film if my translations are correct. The film stars actress Chicha Amatayakul, and actors Prin Supharat and Chatchai Plengpanich, and centers on a boxer out to avenge his father’s death and retrieve his father’s amulet, pulling the veil back on a world of black magic and a duplicitous motivational speaker and his cult-like organization.
