It’s been a few years since we last touched on Nicanor Loreti’s new crime drama, Búfalo. The film tested the festival waters a bit in the Fall of 2022 as the film revealed a little more of itself through stills and an eventual poster, and now we have an official trailer online ahead of a TBA release date in Argentina. Buffalo, a fighter close to retirement, will face his toughest fight: to win back the love of his only son. To do so, he distances himself from “Tano,” a gangster from the suburbs who forces him to steal, and emigrates with his friend “Oso” to a new city. There, he clings to the only thing he knows: fighting. Untidy and lacking technique, but with the strength of a Buffalo, he will show his son and others that there is always a new opportunity to get ahead. Búfalo stars world champion […]
Poised to compete at this year’s 37th Mar Del Plata Film Festival in Argentina is Bufalo, from director Nicanor Loreti. The film stars world champion boxer Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez in the title role and is based on the real life MMA fighter with a script by Lourdes Prado Méndez, Martin Barrionuevo, Paula Manzone and co-star Oliver Kolker. After three years behind bars, Búfalo has decided to change his life—resume his relationship with his son, put it together, find a normal job, stop making mistakes. In his old passion, mixed martial arts close combat, Búfalo will find a means of escape to pay his debts and begin again. Based on Alejandro “el […]
City On Fire recently reported the upcoming street date for the Spanish-language spaghetti-western action crime thriller, Diablo, co-written, produced, edited and directed by Argentinean filmmaker Nicanor Loreti. The film was also written by co-producer Nico Galvagno, co-editor Martin Blousson and Javier Diment, as well as produced by Hernán Findling, Boikot Films. From the trailer itself, the film looks very impressive and fully loaded with enough action, danger, bullets and fisticuffs to entertain audiences. Being that the film is an award-winner, I suspect we will continue to hear good things about Nicanor Loreti in future films to come. SYNOPSIS: A depressed former champion awakes.
