IRON MASK: Jackie Chan And Arnold Schwarzenegger Cross Swords In The Official Trailer For Oleg Stepchenko’s Period Fantasy Epic

Nearly fourteen years in the making and through arduous production periods that finally gave director Oleg Stepchenko the first installment of his then-planned Viy trilogy in 2014, the second and long-awaited chapter has finally arrived stateside with Iron Mask (f.k.a. Viy 2 and Journey To China: Mystery Of The Iron Mask, among others). Lionsgate unveiled the official trailer this week as well, with a planed VoD and Digital release on November 20, and on Blu-Ray and DVD beginning November 24. The big seller? Teasers For Oleg Stepchenko’s THE JOURNEY TO CHINA Boasts Sweeping Visuals And Big Scale Action And Adventure

There’s not a whole lot of consistency here with the current campaign for Oleg Stepchenko’s new epic, The Journey To China. The film is, however, slated for a local release from NBC Universal Russia while its biggest appeal come courtesy of its prominent editions, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, along with the promise of grandiose signature martial arts action as teased in previous videos. Apart from this, it’s actor Jason Flemyng’s stage here reprising his role from the 2014 film, Viy which, in also being helmed by Stepchenko, underwent its own evolution hampered by a number of issues. Flemyng returns to the role of cartographer Jonathan Green as he’s commissioned by the Czar to go on another adventure – one that ultimately lands him in China where he’ll crosspaths with Asian princesses, mystical creatures, skilled warriors and a Dragon King for good measure. Oleg Stepchenko’s long-awaited, albeit loose adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s 19th century horror novella, Viy, has seen quite an evolution. And a lengthy one at that with years of production hurdles until it finally released in 2014 in Russia; The film released in the U.S. as Forbidden Empire and as the first of a trilogy at that, a sequel was in tow the following year upon its announcement. Thus, we have Stepchenko back in the director’s chair and continuing the story of cartographer Jonathan Green, played by Jason Flemyng and Rutger Hauer, and after a small stir of big named circling the film, are officially seeing action legends Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
