NARCO-SAINTS: South Korean Crime Drama Sets Sights Overseas In The Official Series Trailer

Guns, drugs, zealotry, and violence are abound in the upcoming series, Narco-Saints, from showrunner Yoon Jong-bin. Debuting all six episodes on Netflix from September 9, the new crime drama series marks a reunion for Yoon with actor Ha Jung-woo who has starred in nearly all of Yoon’s films since 2005’s The Unforgiven. Narco-Saints follows an ordinary entrepreneur enlisted by the National Intelligence Service for a secret government mission to capture a Korean drug lord operating in South America. Yoon is joined by his The Spy Gone North co-writer Kwon Sung-hui in creating the series which is reportedly based on true events. ROUND SIX: Lee Jung-Jae And Park Hae-Soo To Lead New Netflix Survival Drama

Netflix recently confirmed the additions of actors Lee Jung-jae (Svaha: The Sixth Finger, Operation Chromite) and Park Hae-soo (Prison Playbook, upcoming Time To Hunt) for Netflix original series, Round Six. The series, announced last September, is being directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk (The Fortress, Miss Granny, Silenced). This one’s a bit peculiar in that the show is themed around a game of survival in which players have to draw geometric shapes on the floor which ultimately form the shape of a squid – hence the show’s literal translation, “Squid Game”. That’s where Lee and Park come in, portraying the respective roles of the unemployed Gi-hun, and the beleaguered Sang-woo, both at the ends of their ropes and desperate for the 40-million dollar prize money that victory promises. A premiere date for the new series is currently pending.

DEMON: ‘Idol’ Star Sol Kyung-Gu Tackles Spy Action Thriller From ‘The Prison’ Director

Director Na Hyun will follow up his 2017 feature directing debut, The Prison, now tackling spy action thriller, Demon (a.k.a Yacha), according to Pierce Conran at KOFIC. Filming is abound with a cast that currently enlists veteran film star Sol Kyung-gu (Memoir Of A Murder, 1987: When The Day Comes), and actor Park Hae-soo (The Pirates, By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture) for what so far looks to be a 2020 release. Demon tells the story of Ji-hoon, a former Seoul prosecutor demoted to an office in Shenyang, China where he goes toe-to-toe with Kang-in, an elusive, ruthless NIS ghost operative who plays (and kills) by his own rules. Derailed helmer Lee Seong-tae is back with By Quantum Physics: A Nightlife Venture, now set for a September 25 release in South Korea from Merry Christmas Entertainment, and with a round of trailer footage already online including the newest short promo above. Starring is actor Park Hae-soo (The Pirates, Master) who plays an aspiring nightclub owner driven by a “thoughts create reality” philosophy. Little does he know that reality will hit hard as he gets more than what he bargained for, reluctantly embroiling himself in a drug case involving an entertainer, an infamous loanshark and his son, and a corrupt prosecutor looking to captialize. The film also stars Seo Ye-Ji (Warning: Do Not Play), Kim Sang-Ho (The Witness), Kim Eung-Soo (Enemies In Law) and Byun Hee-Bong (Okja).
