This next installment of the Hit List took some effort since not a lot of folks are filming anything right now, and I’m not really sure how things will look in the next few weeks seeing as Coronavirus is still lingering throughout the country. For now, we’re rich with plenty of stunt reels courtesy of Andy Le, Shiela Quevedo Cano, Terence Julien, Keilani Mussetter, Anthony Heilmann, Oscar Leiva, Taylor Krasne, Paul Hawk, Angela Sippel, Darin Hicks, Damali Ross, YouTuber Mikestarwalker, Gabriel Rios, Justin Sundquist, April Taft, Oscar Fernandez, Maria Gnecci, and a twofer by Alfred Hsing and his team at East West Action Stunts. Rounding out the playlist are coordinator reels courtesy of Juan Bofill and Olivier Schneider. There isn’t much to promote this week, save for a few trailers. First up is the promo for The In-House Grindhouse II, hosted by Art School Dropouts and launching on June 20. […]
Now three shortfilms in with his mini biblical fantasy crime/horror saga with Cain & Abel and Creep, actor and filmmaker Phillip Ray Tommy has big plans and hopes for his current folder for Phratos Entertainment. Enter Vajra, which sees Tommy front and center once more for an action-horror take of biblical, martial arts and gunplay-infused proportions. Cain is arrested by a mysterious task force and taken to a high security facility where he is questioned by the ruthless Oscar Reid. As the interrogation continues, Oscar begins to realise that Cain may have orchestrated his arrest and that a greater supernatural danger is looming behind the scenes. Tommy’s career also extend to feature film work in action acting and stunt performance as you’ll also see in the upcoming release in Avengement opposite Scott Adkins in a few weeks in the U.S. and later in the U.K.. As for Vajra, he’s looking […]
In the grand, largely improvised scheme of things here at Film Combat Syndicate, I eventually came across a concept trailer for a nifty looking project called Sacrilege. The trailer was action-packed, substantive and had everything I looked for in something of a potential film product and so naturally I ultimately began sharing space with the man behind the concept, actor, martial artist and filmmaker Phillip Ray Tommy. He’s met some pretty cool people in his lifetime, all of whom helped steer and build him toward a career in cinema which currently stands up-and-coming. Recent months continue to show him flourishing and paying his dues as he’s been hard at work presenting his most recent gem, Cain & Abel for which we shared a trailer earlier this year, and at the tail end of April, Tommy invited me to screen a copy of his project and if I may say so […]
If anyone needs me, I’ll be spending the week collecting my brain between articles and work so I can recover from my near-sleepless weekend. For the record though…no, I’m not complaining. Headshot was awesome! As for all else, this week’s HIT LIST is here for your enjoyment with another round of stunt and demo reels, promo goodies and action-packed shortfilms. Canadian stunt troupe K Dynamique kicks things off with a new reel of their own followed by Jared Blake DiCroce, Mark Miscione, Eurico Senna and the award-winning fiery stylings of Rachel Novak. The playlist rounds out with reels by Marcel Mala, Joseph Roark, Barry Nerling and Felix Cortes with Godefroy Ryckewaert showcasing some delicious lensing highlights of his own, including footage from Jimmy Henderson’s new movie, Jailbreak. Up next are the usual promotional goods and just in time for the release of the hit film, Logan, is an inspired new […]
Well, I can’t say much about my weekend. Saturday was a 19 hour day and so Doctor Strange had to be put on hold, and my energy level on Monday was about the same as your average everyday housecat. That said, I did get to enjoy a cool Sunday night out with someone who’s been doing stunts for some time now and you can read more about that by clicking here! On that note, The Hit List has arrived for this week and new stunt and action demo reels are here for your viewing pleasure with the first – a reel from an actress whose work I’ve been dying to share in a Hit List entry ever since I became friends with her on social media in 2014. Hailing all the way from London and fresh off of a stellar box office run thusfar in the U.K. and U.S. in […]
The independent scene strikes once again this week, and all at the behest of actor, stuntman and debut director, Phillip Ray Tommy. His newest labor of martial arts, horror and sci-fi fanfare from Phrato Entertainment, Sacrilege, just filmed a concept trailer starring with debut lead actor and martial artist, Grant Stevens in the role of Ash, who gets caught between the forces of good and evil after being gifted with an otherworldly power to avenge the death of his beloved. SYNOPSIS: The emergence of an ancient power source leads a young man on a journey of self discovery and into a confrontation that will scar the Earth and shake the very heavens above. Ash (Grant Steven) is a young man whose life is torn apart after the woman he loves is murdered. He is approached by a mysterious figure, The Trickster (David Ajala) who offers Ash the abilities to punish those […]
