Firstly, I’m much more geared toward action star and Oscar-winner Jackie Chan’s old school titles, though I can appreciate the aesthetic value in his newer movies given the etymology of his overall filmic vision. He certainly erects it in his latest, Railroad Tigers, loaded with sprightly comedy and colorful characters, and some huge set pieces to boot, though not without a few bumps and thumps. An otherwise watchable affair from start to finish, the film introduces us immediately to our ragtag bunch of Chinese rebels stealing from the Japanese in 1941. They’re just one more heist away from their goal when a wounded soldier tips them off, landing our heroes a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tip the scale and cripple the Imperial Japanese army for good. Action star Jackie Chan has a ton of films coming out soon; My sentiments on Kung Fu Yoga still stand while I look forward to several of his titles in the coming months, including Railroad Tigers from director Ding Sheng and which certainly speaks to Chan’s love for musical comedy, big stunts and silent film lore all from which he takes his cues as a filmmaker. It’s the exhiliaration I feel just from watching certain moments now seen in the latest trailer for the film which details the story of a group of rebels banding together to disrupt the flow of operations of the Imperial Japanese army. Chan has gone big before and oftentimes gets exhausting in certain movies, but this one has a delightful flair that I like. Ding Sheng’s latest World War II action adventure romp, Railroad Tigers, is just weeks away from its China release and another full trailer has arrived with English subs to peep at until then. Also worth noting is the film’s U.S. release which isn’t too far off courtesy of Well Go USA which should make 2017 a spectacle to help ring in the new year some. If you’re looking for a little bit of big screen action this Holiday season, then you’re not too far off. A second official teaser finally arrived since the promotional campaign for the new Jackie Chan period adventure, Railroad Tigers, kicked off a few months ago, and the film will surely be releasing simultaneously this December along with China. For fans, it’s an otherwise warm welcome for Chan here who stars as a World War II railroad worker who uses his knowledge of the railway to ambush the Japanese and feed the hungry and starving. Rounding out the cast are Huang Zitao (Edge of Innocence), Wang Kai (Nirvana In Fire) and Darren Wang (Our Times). Check it out!

It’s been a few days since action star and Guiness world record holder Jackie Chan snatched a spot as one of four recipients for an Honorary 2016 Governors Award for his achievements in film. All well and good, and he’ll be receiving that award in November while obviously continuing to excel in his craft with a raft of titles to boot, including KungFu Yoga, The Foreigner, and The Lego NINJAGO Movie. For now, his next runner-up for 2016 will be the release of Ding Sheng’s Railroad Tigers which joins Chan with actors Huang Zitao (Edge of Innocence), Wang Kai (Nirvana In Fire) and Darren Wang (Our Times) for the story of a railroad worker in 1941 who rallies a rebellion against the Japanese to get food to the poor. Action star Jackie Chan is currently in London blowing things up with filmmaker Martin Campbell for the tentatively titled action thriller, The Foreigner. In the meantime, things are slowly coming into fruition for his third stint with director Ding Sheng following their recent completion on the Shangdong, China set of Railroad Tigers which adds to four current Chan titles for fans to get excited for this year so far. Releasing this October, Chan headlines with Kai Wang, Huang Zi-Tao, Fan Xu, Wang Da-Lu and Ikeuchi Hiroyuki rounding out the cast with a script by Sheng which puts Chan in the role of a railroad worker leading a team of freedom fighters against the Japanese during World War II.
