Erik Matti Says YO!, Check This Out!

Celebrated BuyBust and On The Job director Erik Matti’s recent departure from upcoming superhero pic, Darna, hasn’t discouraged him from aspiring toward shepherding family adventure projects – particularly ones with stylish, visionary action. The latest indicator of this is now available with Yo!, a proof-of-concept trailer that easily likens itself to titles like Scott Pilgrim vs. The World which carries almost that exact same visual, energetic vibe. Matti is unveiling the proof this weekend as one of several projects he and the gang at Reality Entertainment have under way – this, in association with Mothership Inc. Filmmaker Erik Matti’s latest thriller, BuyBust, has endured a strenuous near-two year journey from inception to its approaching completion with lead actress Anne Curtis and MMA champion Brandon Vera starring. With an official release date pending and the heralded director of thrillers like On The Job and Kubot: The Aswang Chronicles, took to social media on Thursday to reflect on the production in a lengthy post. It’s a worthy read as well considering what it takes these days to get an ambitious action production in the Philippines off the ground.
