CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE: Rick Famuyiwa To Direct Action Fantasy Novel Adaptation

Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi’s 2018 novel, Children of Blood and Bone, is reportedly in development under the Fox/Disney banner according to a recent piece at Deadline. Formerly housed at Fox 2000, Children Of Blood And Bone is now circling Kay Oyegun (This Is Us) to adapt of the 2018 publication with Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) tapped to direct. The film, whose literary IP stands to be the first of a trilogy, caught the interest of Lucasfilm chief Kathleen Kennedy whose efforts here would make Children Of Blood And Bone the first feature property since the Fox/Disney merger that isn’t Star Wars or Indiana Jones. The report also indicates that while producers at Temple Hill will also be involved since 2017, Lucasfilm’s involvement assures this adaptation will be a priority for the studios. ‘Dope’ Director Lands Graphic Novel Adaptation BLACK HOLE And Netflix Vigilante Superhero Pic, PAST MIDNIGHT

Director Rick Famuyiwa is making this week his own with at least two projects sourced per exclusives at The Hollywood Reporter and on Friday at Deadline. The celebrated helmer behind the hit film, Dope is partnering with producers at Plan B and New Regency for supernatural thriller, Black Hole. Inspired by Charles Burns’s 1995 cult graphic novel of the same name, the film is set in the 1970s Pacific Northwest where teens have contracted sexually transmitted diseases that turn them into mutants. New Regency is financing the film which has been circling an adaptation since 2005. Famuyiwa’s headline profusion increased even further having landed Netflix’s latest superhero feature, Past Midnight. Sony’s SON OF SHAOLIN Enlists ‘Dope’ Director Rick Famuyiwa

The past year has been stirring a bit with Sony Pictures getting in on some kung fu action with the hopeful adaptation of Top Cow/Image Comics publication, Son Of Shaolin. The novel is heading to shelves in September and the project has since landed in the hands of Seven Bucks Productions whose own Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia from Seven Bucks Productions will produce. Casting has yet to begin but the latest report from Deadline quells any talk of Johnson having a role while what IS official is the news of Rick Famuyiwa in talks for the project. 'Dope' Helmer Rick Famuyiwa To Helm THE FLASH For Warner Bros.

It may have taken Nigerian-American director Rick Famuyiwa seventeen years, but he’s finally about to sink his teeth into something much larger than those of his earlier credits. The word now is that he’s well on the way to directing The Flash, replacing its former helmer Seth Grahame-Smith who left the project more than a month ago due to “creative differences”. Famuyiwa will direct with a script by Grahame-Smith treated from Phil Lord and Christopher Miller that has since cast actor Ezra Miller in the title role as inspired by the 1940 DC Comics publication. Miller earned a small cameo in this year’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which now has an R-rated Ultimate Cut releasing on DVD, VOD and Blu-Ray later this summer.
