I lost out during its festival circuitry last year as this movie fell out of my reach to cover. Still, like anyone else paying attention, I’m aware of the buzz! The proliferation of Indian stardom has risen to the mainstream on a new level in the past year, and it’s actor Lakshya who gets to ride the wave as the next face of action cinema in the West with Kill, from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions. When army commando Amrit (Lakshya) finds out his true love Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage. But when a gang of knife-wielding thieves led by the ruthless Fani (Raghav Juyal) begin to terrorize innocent passengers on his train, Amrit takes them on himself in a death-defying kill-spree to save those around him — turning what should have been […]

Last October was a great time for director Nikhil Nagesh Bhat following the acquisition of his new action thriller, Kill. The Hindi-language thriller is a milestone success for Southeast Asian action cinema among many titles, including the last several years. Nowadays, with Universal Pictures’ Monkey Man leaning in the momentum, Bhat’s new flick has arrived with an official teaser – one ripe with the suitable action beats and gore, and buzzy review quotes to meet the demand. Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions are releasing the film in theaters on July 4. When army commando Amrit (Lakshya) finds out his true love Tulika (Tanya Maniktala) is engaged against her will, he boards a New Delhi-bound train in a daring quest to derail the arranged marriage. But when a gang of knife-wielding thieves led by the ruthless Fani (Raghav Juyal) begin to terrorize innocent passengers on his train, Amrit takes them on himself […]
I’m kind of hoping Deadpool 2‘s Zeitgeist gets an appearance in Shawn Levy’s Deadpool & Wolverine. Beyond that, 2024 is a good year to be Bill Skarsgård. With The Crow and Robert Eggers’s Nosferatu on deck, it’ll be a sweet, salacious tale of vengeance as teased in the newest official trailer for director Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills World. Written by Tyler Burton Smith and Arend Remmers, the film also stars Jessica Rothe, Michelle Dockery, Isaiah Mustafa, Yayan Ruhian, Andrew Koji, Famke Jansen, and Sharlton Copley, and is produced by Sam Raimi and Roy Lee. Skarsgård stars as “Boy” who avows revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Koy (Janssen), the deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty that left the boy orphaned, deaf and voiceless. Driven by his inner voice, one which he co-opted from his favorite childhood video game, Boy trains with a mysterious shaman (Ruhian) […]
Bring Him To Me opens in select theaters and on-demand on February 23 from Roadside Attractions. Horror thriller “Scurry” was the most recent project attaching actor Barry Pepper to Aussie director Luke Sparke a few years back. Invariably the pair ended up awaiting their forthcoming collaboration which now brings us to the Occupation sci-fi franchise helmer’s most recent effort, Bring Him To Me, starring Pepper alongside Jamie Costa. Boasting a taut thriller with complex characters and slick cinematography, Sparke’s Bring Him To Me lends a screenplay by Tom Evans, host to a tale of greed, guilt and retribution. The lead characters – played by Pepper and Costa – don’t have names, a fact later acknowledged in a jocular moment between Passenger (Costa) and the more terse and focused Driver (Pepper). Their chemistry takes a bit of time to muster, particularly well into the first half of the film with Driver […]
The wait has been an extensive one with post-production, a social media campaign and exclusive event screenings, but the word is now out for Cayenne Pepper Productions CEO, renowned choreographer and dancer Swati Bhise’s directorial debut, The Warrior Queen Of Jhansi. Roadside Attractions has snagged U.S. release rights to the film for a Fall release via Deadline, titularly starring Devika Bhise in this, the latest cinematic incarnation of 19th century warrior queen Lakshmibai. Formerly titled Swords & Sceptres, Bhise’s The Warrior Queen Of Jhansi tells the true story of Lakshmibai, the historic Queen of Jhansi who fiercely led her army against the British East India Company in the infamous mutiny of 1857. Lakshmibai is known as one […]
