THE GARDENER Review: Mismatched Screen Stars Make For Watchable Thrills

Ever since actor Robert Bronzi came on the scene, there’s always been the obvious fascination with his likeness to that of late actor Charles Bronson which seems to be the driving force for his popularity. Contrarily however, that shouldn’t always be the case. The first time I saw Bronzi was in Rene Perez’s gratuitious gritty thriller, Death Kiss. My thoughts on the film itself aside, the actor is completely dubbed which all but takes away from the experience of seeing what Bronzi can really do, which something I’m at least thankful for when it comes to this aspect of what directing duo Scott Jeffery and Rebecca Matthews’s deliver own thriller, The Gardener. CRY HAVOC Wreaks Terror This May From Midnight Releasing

Following his 2017 overture with Playing With Dolls: Havoc, director Rene Perez returns in-line with another for horror sequel, Cry Havoc. He’s joined by action star facsimile Robert Bronzi (Death Kiss, Once Upon a Time in Deadwood), Richard Tyson (Kindergarten Cop), Emily Sweet, and JD Angstadt, for the film’s May 5 on-demand release from Midnight Releasing. An ambitious young reporter is granted an interview with one of the FBI’s most wanted. While entering his compound she finds one of his prized possessions, a serial killer who murders at call, called HAVOC. Her only hope is a rogue police man searching for his daughter.

THE GARDENER: Production Wraps On Action Thriller Starring Robert Bronzi And Gary Daniels

Principal photography has since wrapped on the new thriller, The Gardener. Several behind-the-scenes photos have made their way online in the past few weeks revealing actors Robert Bronzi (Death Kiss and Once Upon A Time In Deadwood, Escape From Death Block 13), and martial arts star Gary Daniels (The Expendables, I Am Vengeance). Bronzi stars from a story by Jeff Miller and screenplay by Ben Demaree, that focuses on Peter, an immigrant worker in England whose quiet, idyllic life as a gardener at manor house will find him turning up the volume, and employing his old skills to save the family he works for from home invaders. Scott Jeffrey and Rebecca J. Matthews share directing duties and are producing via their Proportion Productions label. While we await Cabal, Uncork’d Entertainment is knocking on doors this week to promote their latest release, Rene Perez’s Once Upon A Time In Deadwood. The most striking element of this apart from its aim toward fans of Westerns is the return of actor Robert Bronzi, whose gimmicky, dead-ringer likeness to a certain late film icon is still an attention-getter. ONCE UPON A TIME IN DEADWOOD concerns a notorious gunslinger who is slipped a slow-acting poison by an heiress and told he has three days to track down and rescue her sister, who has been kidnapped by a band of hoodlums and holds the antidote. Jeff Miller (The Toybox) co-wrote the script with Perez, and produced the film with Ronnie D. Lee (The Toybox, Ouija House) through their respective companies Millman Productions and Ron Lee Productions.
