The Movies That Moved Me: John G. Avildsen’s ROCKY
I haven’t written about any of the “Rocky” films apart from Michael B. Jordan’s “Creed” trilogy. Thinking maybe I’ll start here.

It must be really frustrating that everything you do in life is overshadowed by your mega popular brother, but actually, Frank Stallone can’t really complain, because in all probability without Sylvester, we wouldn’t even be talking about him right now… So, in all likelihood, being aware of that, and knowing that nobody besides himself is going to vindicate his art, Frank has produced this wonderful autobiographical documentary in which with the help of many popular friends, including his mom and his super famous brother, he relates with all sincerity and humbleness, his struggling story with all his lights and many shadows, but overall with the priceless optimism that all those who never give up their dreams, taking all life’s hits keeping always moving forward can only do, cause as all you already know, that’s how winning is done!!! Welcome to the May 2018 edition of ACTION STREAM! After a pretty quiet April, May kicks down the door and bombards us with great action movies on all three platforms. Today’s age of remakes and reboots is not without its share of criticisms. Some fans are hardliners and purists about their favorite franchises and largely choose not to have them reobserved in any way shape or fashion, which can both be a good and a bad thing despite many opinions. For the instance of the launch of the next installation of the Rocky saga, Creed, this is most certainly a good thing, notwithstanding its explosive opening weekend at the box office. The film takes its cues directly from that of its predecessors with a new face on the frontline and it does so in a way that respects its origins with an adherance to substance over style and a look ready to engage a new era of moviegoers. Michael B. Jordan, back once again with director Ryan Coogler following their accolades hugely earned in the 2012 biopictoral drama, Fruitvale Station, […]
Actor Michael B. Jordan has been the talk of the town since the highly underrated release of the 2012 found-footage sci-fi teen superhero drama, Chronicle. Highly regarded for his amazing on-screen presence in TV and film, Jordan‘s name has been tossed through the superhero movie hemisphere from rumors of a role as Johnny Storm in the upcoming reboot of Fantastic Four, to the somewhat-serious mention of a romantic pairing with Spider-Man as a new take on the character, M.J.. Surely enough, it is a bright and bold sign that Jordan‘s career has taken off in solid fashion, especially while off the heels of a stellar performance from the same actor/director duo for their multi-festival award winning film, Fruitvale Station, featuring Jordan‘s biographical portrayal of tragic events that led to the tragic police shooting of unarmed victim, Oscar Grant, back in 2009. Today’s reporting from Deadline states that the actor is […]
