TIN SOLDIER arrives on Prime Video UK in July!
DECAL have since acquired North American rights for the new thriller with Signature Entertainment landing UK rights.
Boudica opens on digital platforms in the UK beginning October 30 from Signature Entertainment. Black Widow and The Princess actress Olga Kurylenko has a few forthcoming screen credits with director Jesse Johnson, following their previous collaboration on 2023 crime thriller, White Elephant. Their latest pairing will arrive with Johnson’s inspired 60 A.D.-set period epic, Boudica, chronicling the legendary warrior queen’s campaign of retribution against the Roman empire. The first several minutes of Boudica makes it inherently clear what kind of film you’ll be in for if an R-rating isn’t enough of a hint. Severed necks, blood geysers, exposed innards, and all-out screaming deaths are on the menu as Caesar Augustus Nero’s (Harry Kirton) military, led by Commander Paulinus (Kris Johnson), mows down hundreds of druids on the island of Mona. The event is only the latest amid Rome’s takeover of most of Europe, with Britannia being the last, ruled by […]
Director Jesse V. Johnson continues his reign as a genre favorite with recent hits like The Beautiful Ones, Accident Man and Avengement in his rearview. One of his more recent completions now finds him dealing in the medieval arena with none other than Olga Kurylenko taking the mantle for Johnson’s Boudica, based on the real-life legend of the ancient warrioress. This historical action is the bold, bloody story of the Celtic Queen. King Prasutagus rules over the Iceni people with his wife Boudica by his side, but when he is betrayed and killed, Boudica’s kingdom is left without a male heir and the Romans seize her land. Determined to avenge her husband’s death, Boudica rallies the tribes from the region and wages an epic war against the Roman Empire. Boudica’s life and legend has been the center of other media projects before, although Johnson’s film finally marks something a little […]

Norwegian filmmaker Pål Øie is proudly getting some shelf space in the UK courtesy of Signature Entertainment for his latest dramatic disaster thriller, The Tunnel (a.k.a. Tunnelen). The film released locally back in December and has been making the market rounds with sales to dozens of territories, save for North America TBA, I suppose. When a truck explodes in a tunnel located in the Norwegian mountains, families and tourists find themselves fighting for their lives. Trapped in the darkness with no way out, they face subzero temperatures outside or suffocation as the tunnel rapidly fills with smoke inside. With first responders struggling to gain access to the incident due to blizzard conditions, everyone inside is left to fight for their lives. Based on a true story with a script by Kjersti Helen Rasmussen, The Tunnel stars actor Thorbjørn Harr, and actresses Lisa Carlehed and Ylva Fuglerud, and opens in the […]
Shaun Paul Piccinino’s American Fighter stood tall at Fantasia last summer, if my own thoughts on the film are of any hint. It’s the film that follows up from Alex Ranarivelo’s 2016 based-on-a-true-story induction, American Wrestler: The Wizard, with actor George Kosturos reprising his character now for a more fictional telling, and served with a few doses of kicks, throws and body blows to boot. This now brings us to the official trailer, now streaming for its digital UK release from Signature Entertainment on July 20, and comes with its own buzz pitch that reads “American Fighter boasts many gritty and excellently choreographed fight scenes reminiscent of action cult classics Rocky, Lionheart or The Karate Kid.” It’s not wrong, really. Again, I enjoyed it and you’re welcome to click here and read my interview with Piccinino to learn more on his adventure. A desperate teenager is forced into the dangerous […]

Road Games helmer Abner Pastoll will get his day this October when UK-based Signature rolls out his latest offering, A Good Woman Is Hard To Find. Fantasia Fest rolled out the red carpet for this particular find in July featuring Mayans M.C. actress Sarah Bolger as a single mother whose home is invaded by a drug pusher peddling a bag of stolen coke. The film just had its FrightFest premiere a few days ago and still awaits a U.S. release. Peep the trailer above and if you’re interested, my review is also up for grabs.
Screenwriter Nabil Ben Yadir played an intergral role in contributing to the acclaim earned in the El Arbi/Fallah-directed Belgian crime romp, Gangsta. He’s also earned his stripes in the past decade with multiple nominations to his credit since becoming a festival favorite with The Barons in 2009 and three films later, he’s been back in the director chair with the 2017 crime thriller, The Blind Spot, now heading toward a UK release. The Blind Spot is an extremely relevant, thought-provoking and edge-of-your-seat thriller from the producer of Bullhead. The film follows Jan Verbeeck (Peter Van den Begin), the uncompromising commissioner of the Antwerp drug squad. Known as “Mr. Zero Tolerance”, he is hugely popular with the people and the media. The country is thrown into commotion when he announces that he is leaving the police force just before the elections to join the extreme right party, VPV. On his last […]

Fans looking toward Heist helmer director Scott Mann for a follow-up of his 2009 action thriller, The Tournament, may be in for a longer wait. For now though, you can expect to find him around London sometime this Summer or Fall for the upcoming production of his newest hostage thriller, Final Score. The Brothers Lynch – David and Keith, are penning the script which sees a former soldier who must use his skills amid a bustling stadium during a major sporting event to rescue its 35,000 occupants, including the daughter of his fallen comrade, from a squad of heavily armed captors.
