STAR WARS IX Sees Leia Returning, Announces Cast And Production Start Date

Actress Carrie Fisher’s untimely passing on December 27, 2016 was going to be an inevitable challenge if Disney had planned on reviving the role of General Leia Organa. To say the least, it’s a challenge the studio is officially ready to meet as they’ve announced the cast for the tentatively untitled ninth chapter of the Star Wars saga following The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. Best of all is the return of actress Kelly Marie Tran who took a string of abuse from the terrible, horrible, no good ends of the SW fan community – so much that she deleted her Instagram back in June. STAR WARS IX Lands J.J. Abrams To Direct

Lucasfilm There’s been much ado with who would helm the third installment of the newest Star Wars canon but it now appears that J.J. Abrams is the man who will take the chair to direct. Abrams shepherded the 2015 holiday hit, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac starring, grossing more than $2 billion dollars among its accolades. STAR WARS: EPISODE IXTHE ACCLAIMED FILMMAKER WILL RETURN TO HELM THE FINAL FILM IN THE SEQUEL TRILOGY. J.J. Abrams, who launched a new era of Star Wars with The Force Awakens in 2015, is returning to complete the sequel trilogy as writer and director of Star Wars: Episode IX. Abrams will co-write the film with Chris Terrio.
