Goggles, top hats, airships, and, of course, gears. These are the things that most often come to mind when someone hears the word “steampunk” but what is steampunk actually? Boiled down to the simplest explanation, steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that includes steam-powered technology. The technology can be current (like a computer) or based on older inventions, but is powered by steam. Most commonly, steampunk is set in the 19th century Victorian era. With the most recent local release of director Ross Boyask’s fantasy action thriller, Warrioress, actress, producer, martial artist and action auteur Cecily Fay has become a growing beacon for fans of the genre hailing from the UK. The film was largely produced and shot on a zero budget and completed only through faith and boundless effort, and for this, the film has become a critical success among followers as the wheels began spinning for Fay‘s next stellar endeavor in martial arts action cinema, Babes With Blades: Flower Of Sarnia. TAI CHI HERO To Hit U.S. Theaters Soon

Well Go USA has recently announced the official limited theatrical release date for director Stephen Fung’s latest film, Tai Chi Hero, the sequel to the 2012 release of actor Jayden Yuan’s lead debut role in Tai Chi Zero, both of which are produced by co-stars Fung, and Daniel Wu for their production company, Diversion Pictures. The follow up also stars Tony Leung Ka-Fai, pop star and actress Angelababy, Eddie Peng and William Feng, with Peter Stormare, Yuen Biao and Jade Xu. The film was also produced by Wang Zhonglei and Zhang Dajun along with Chen Kuo-fu who wrote story for the screenplay, written by Chang Chia-lu and Cheng Hsiao-tse. The film is a martial arts action fantasy shot and delivered in 3D and is slated for limited theatrical release on April 26.
