January 12, 2018 is the date to slate for Sony and Screen Gems’s forthcoming action thriller, Proud Mary. The first official trailer arrived on Thursday after wrapping a few months ago with London Has Fallen helmer Babak Najafi back in the director’s with actress Taraji P. Henson in the title role. John Stuart Newman (Dirty Work) and Christian Swegal (Stasis) wrote the screenplay which has Henson starring as the fierce and beautiful Mary – a hit woman working for an organized crime family in Boston, whose life is completely turned around when she meets Danny, young boy whose path she crosses when a professional hit goes bad.
