Actor Takeru Satoh recently updated his official blog with a new set photo from the upcoming sequel to the 2012 smash hit, Rurouni Kenshin. The film is currently in production with Satoh reprising his role as the Meiji-era 19th century wandering swordsman from author Nobuhiro Watsuki’s classic manga series. Actor Tatsuya Fujiwara starring opposite Satoh in the role of villainous government assassin, Makoto Shishio. Other returning cast members include Emi Takei, Yuu Aoi and Yosuke Eguchi as Kaoru Kamiya, Megumi Takani and Hajime Saitō, respectively.
In other casting news, Anime News Network also reported an announcement over the weekend that actor Ryunosuke Kamiki will play Sojiro Seta, Makoto’s former right-hand man, along with Yusuke Iseya will play Aoshi Shinomori, the head of the Oniwabanshu ninja. Director Keishi Otomo has returned to helm the two-part sequel which covers the Kyoto arc of the series, with the first part titled, The Great Kyoto Fire Arc, followed by the third, The End Of A Legend Arc.
Both are expected to release next summer.
