THE LAST OF US Scores A Second Season From HBO

HBO is renewing hit series The Last Of Us for a second season, the broadcaster announced on Friday. The show takes its cues from the critically acclaimed video game of the same name developed by Naughty Dog, and is currently out with two episodes garnering major approval from fans and critics in the last few weeks. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are the writers and executive producers on the show starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey in the respective roles of Joel and 14-year old Ellie, the survivors of a monstrous fungal pandemic that turns its victims into hosts for an incurable disease that transforms them into parasitic monsters. This week’s seen a fantastic growth of news for HBO Max subscribers, the latest two of which include current development of DC/Vertigo adaptation, DMZ, and Friday’s announcement of a series take based on the hit video game, The Last Of Us. Production is set to commence next year for a four part adaptation of DMZ, based on the 2005 Vertigo/DC publication, marking the latest milestone since its planned development first landed at SyFy in 2014. DMZ is set in the near future where America is embroiled in a bitter civil war, leaving Manhattan a demilitarized zone (DMZ), destroyed and isolated from the rest of the world.
