Daniel Bernhardt Jacks Back In For The Fourth MATRIX Film

Daniel Bernhardt is jacking back into the Matrix for the fourth installment which is back in production as of this summer after shutting down in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Cameras are rolling in Berlin and with Bernhardt back to reprise his role as Agent Johnson from 2003’s The Matrix Reloaded, rejoining Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss who headlined the initial Warner Bros. sci-fi action trilogy. Lilly Wachowski is back in the director’s chair minus sister, Lana; Both Wachowskis directed all three films to box office fruition, earning $1.6 billion dollars at the box office from 1999 to 2003, invigorating sci-fi fandom with graphic novel-style thrills and imagery, and cinematic action and kung fu thanks to the efforts of Master Yuen Woo-Ping’s stunt team. I’m not too inclined to see this as a referendum on my childhood considering I was a fan of Neil Patrick Harris’s 90s teen series, Doogie Houser M.D., and hey, if you weren’t a fan of this series growing up…what even?? Anyway, word is out from Variety that ya boy NPH is gonna star in the upcoming fourth installment in The Matrix saga which already has returning cast members Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, and the newly added Yahya Abdul-Mateen II from Aquaman. Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell co-wrote the script with Lana Wachowski who will produce with Grant Hill. Wachowski, who previously co-helmed the blockbuster original trilogy with Lilly (previously named Andy), will return to direct in a solo capacity. The Get-Down and Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will take a key role in the pending fourth installment of The Matrix saga. Lana Wachowski will return this time to direct in a solo capacity as announced by Warner Bros. Pictures Chairman Toby Emmerich back in August. The original trilogy earned $1.6 billion dollars at the box office centered on Keanu Reeves as venerable “chosen one” in mankind’s long and winding tale of harrowing survival against an autonomous, mechanized onslaught that imprisons mankind through a virtual world known as The Matrix. Reeves and original franchise co-headliner Carrie-Anne Moss will both reprise their roles joining Abdul-Mateen II from a script by Wachowski, and co-writers Aleksandar Hemon and David Mitchell. On the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Wachowski sibs’ hit movie, The Matrix, a fourth installment is officially underway according to Variety. Lana Wachowski is penning and directing the film with scripting also by Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell. Production commences early next year with actor Keanu Reeves and actress Carrie-Anne Moss set to reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. Wachowski will also produce with Grant Hill for the fourth film – a project that has long stewed online since the 1999 film became a franchise winner for Warner Bros.
