Screendaily’s Michael Rosser reports that action drama The Prosecutor will bow on January 10 in North America from Well Go USA. The news comes on the heels of the official trailer for the Donnie Yen-led flick ahead of its Hong Kong release on December 27. Yen directs and stars from a script by Edmond Wong, centered on a former cop-turned-prosecutor who sets out to right some wrongs when a wrongfully accused man is set to take the fall for a crime, facing pressure by forces on both sides of the law. Fok (Donnie Yen), an unconventional prosecutor assigned to the case, firmly believes that the case is full of doubts and decides to conduct a private investigation for the young man. Fok risks his life and career to uncover the truth and bring the real culprit to justice. Alas, we now have the first bits of footage included in a brisk fifteen second tease for The Prosecutor, starring Donnie Yen who shares the producer role with fellow Ip Man cohort Raymond Wong, as well as wearing the action director hat with specialist Kenji Tanigaki. Cannes Gives Us The First Poster And Plot Synopsis For THE PROSECUTOR
The Cannes Film Festival officially kicks off today and it’s already delivered it’s first gem in the form of the first official poster and plot synopsis for the upcoming Donnie Yen vehicle, THE PROSECUTOR. Not only is Donnie the lead in this one; he’s directing and producing too, according to Cannes promo material. It seems Donnie’s getting more and more comfortable in the director’s chair after also directing last year’s Sakra. Edmong Wong – writer of the entire Ip Man franchise – serves as writer. Action fans will rejoice in hearing that both Donnie and Kenji Tanigaki are in charge of the action. Tanigaki’s particularly busy these days after recently working on one of the most ancititpated action films of 2024, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, and then moving into the director’s chair for his upcoming film, The Furious.
