The Standoff At Sparrow Creek: Audiences at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival got first dibs on Henry Dunham’s feature directing debut, centered on an ex-cop-turned-militia man whose investigation of a funeral shooting turns inward to his own encampment. Dunham penned the script which became one of the bests listed in 2015 Black List of unproduced screeenplays. Date pending. Donnybrook: Actor Frank Grillo also managed to get in some Fall film festival screentime in Toronto with the premiere of Tim Sutton’s bare-fisted brawler drama. Henry Dunham’s THE STANDOFF AT SPARROW CREEK Gets A Taut, Suspenseful Trailer

Mass shootings are certainly a chilling subject matter. Far from being an escapist narrative in someways, leave it to writer and director Henry Dunham to scribe and craft together what aims to be worthwhile and intriguing thriller, tackling the issue with reverence and poise in RLJE Films’ The Standoff At Sparrow Creek. The film earned a fine round of reviews and responses from critics at this year’s TIFF. RLJE snatched the rights during its Toronto run and now the distro banner has rolled out its first trailer, host to a cast that lists James Badge Dale, Brian Geraghty, Patrick Fischler, Chris Mulkey, Happy Anderson and Robert Aramayo. The Toronto International Film Festival is underway and while screenings are running, deals are being made in the process. Writer and debut director Henry Dunham’s new film, The Standoff At Sparrow Creek is just one of them, now following its Midnight Madness premiere and with XYZ Films repping international sales. The word on Tuesday by way of a press announcement out of Toronto is that negotiations have unfolded in favor of RLJE Films in its acquisition of North American distribution rights. Release dates pending, the company is currently plotting to release the film nationally in theaters, as well as on VOD and Digital HD in early 2019.
