THE WITCHER Returns to Netflix and a World Changed by War

Gamers and fans of fantasy novels alike are no stranger to Geralt of Rivia and the world of The Witcher. Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels found international success after well known game developers CD Projekt Red released their series of 3rd person action games set in the world, and propelled it’s protagonist to gaming stardom. Netflix would end up acquiring the license for the books to create it’s hit drama series, which has already been confirmed for a third season as of September 2021. Scheduled for release December 17th and remaining exclusive to the platform, Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Enola Holmes) plays protagonist Geralt, a monster hunter called a Witcher. The official trailer is now out for The Witcher, making its first season television run on Netflix based on the hit novel saga. Henry Cavill leads the way for the show’s eight-episode December 20 premiere. Based on the best-selling fantasy series, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. With Henry Cavill nabbed principally for Netflix‘s latest stake in The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia, more names have been added to the roster. The sorceress Yennefer will be played by Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust). Actress MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street, Kill List) will leading the magical academy at Aretuza in the role of Tissaia, with Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) and Therica Wilson-Read (Profile) as novice sorcerers Fringilla and Sabrina, and Millie Brady (The Last Kingdom, Teen Spirit) as the outcast Princess Renfri.
