It’s been a while since I’ve mentioned a word on Bora, the latest independent thriller debut from actress, producer and filmmaker Tiffany Toney. The movie was shot several years ago and has since run the post-production gamut followed by screenings and a subsequent release on Amazon Prime Video as well as FAST platform, Tubi. The concept here isn’t too dissimilar from other films you may have seen. Invariably, it’s a rich take on a popular angle venturing into the psychological, with a sexy, chilling twist that serves the film’s rewarding narrative. Enter Ajima Cole who inaugurates our story in the role of Elon, a young woman whose idyllic life with boyfriend Shawn (Gichi Gamba) is about to take a life-shattering tumble ahead after a chance (we’ll say) bumping-into with a wandering junkie named Bora (Toney). Well into the first half of Bora, the viewer is introduced to a bevy of […]
More than a year after launching a crowdsourcing campaign for their latest film, Bora, the production now has an official trailer to show for their efforts. Actress Tiffany Toney sits at the helm to co-direct with Andre McCoy, from a script she wrote and exec produced for, and for the title role in which she herself stars, alongside Ajima Cole for the provocative new crime thriller. A naïve young woman sets out on a road trip to find herself on The Day Of The Dead. After befriending a seductive hitchiker, things take an unexpected turn and she discovers more than what she bargained for. Will she find herself, or will BORA seduce her, costing her everything she’s ever known to be real? Also starring are Duain Richmond, Omar Gooding, Noel G., Gichi Gamba, James M. Black, Joan Moten and more, with Toney also performing music from composer Jason Betts for […]
Nearly a year since the launch of upcoming psychological horror thriller, Bora, times have indeed changed for the independent production as it pressed onward with Covid-safety measures in place. Unfortunately it also meant a changing of hands, save for any other details to the matter that typically contribute to the kinds of mutability that independent films tend to endure. Alas, all things relevant to Bora and its current progress now lie in the hands of film duo, actor/director Chyna McCoy (The Matrix) and co-director Innana Ishtar, who both share the helm with a few more rounds of principal photography currently pending. For what it’s worth, it also means there’s essential crowdfunding needed for the project to help cushion its post-production expenses, which includes music, editing, additional audio recording, special effects work, and much more. It also means a few more gems of poster art, behind-the-scenes photos and marketing for the […]
