On days like today I’m reminded that there’s a ton of streaming content I need to keep up with. That includes the season rollout of The Silent Service on Prime Video last year based on the hit Morning Magazine manga publication, and starring Takao Osawa of Kingdom fame as the Captain of a ship gone sovereign on the high seas. As it stands now, we have a sequel feature in toe with The Silent Service: Battle Of The Arctic Ocean which arrives in September 26 from Toho, and is also set to release on Prime Video. Kohei Yoshino returns to direct the feature sequel which was announced back in December, hailing from Amazon MGM Studios and CREDEUS. STOLEN IDENTITY: FINAL HACKING GAME Teaser And Trailer Revealed For Hideo Nakata’s Cyberthriller Threequel
Director Hideo Nakata is closing his longstanding SNS crime saga later this year with the third and final installment of the Stolen Identity trilogy, Stolen Identity: Final Hacking Game. The official short and long trailers are live from Toho with a November 1 theatrical release set for the film, which takes its cues from Akira Shiga’s 2017 novel. Nakata is rejoined by recurrent screenwriter Tetsuya Oishi, along with franchise actors Yudai Chiba and Ryo Narita in their respective roles of elusive hacker Urano, and the dauntless lawman chasing him, Kagaya. As a new serial killer mystery unfolds with a suspect targeting women with long black hair, the Japanese government is faced with a vicious cyber attack coming from Seoul. The film also stars former IZ*ONE member, Kwon Eun-bi in her debut movie role. Check out the teaser and trailer footage below!
KINGDOM: RETURN OF THE GREAT GENERAL Sets The Stage For Vengeance In New Promo Teaser!
Early Sunday Japan time, Toho released a stunning new pair of assets for Kingdom: Return Of The Great General. Shinsuke Sato directs the fourth installment based on Yasuhisa Hara’s hit manga with a screenplay by Tsutomu Kuroiwa. Enclosed below is a new teaser and visual featuring first look at actress Yuko Araki in the role of Kyo, one of the six great Generals of Qin. Her inclusion in this next installment marks just the latest in a major setup for a heated confrontation that finally sees legendary General Ouki return to the battlefield and face his ultimate rival, Houken. Those roles are respectively played by Takao Osawa and Koji Kikkawa, who join reprising leads Kento Yamazaki, Ryo Yoshizawa and Kanna Hashimoto. THE SILENT SERVICE: Takao Osawa Takes To The High Seas In The Official Launch Teaser
Kaiji Kawaguchi’s late 80s manga is now a thing of big-screen aspirations with Toho and Amazon Japan partnering together for new political war thriller, The Silent Service. The first official teaser introduces leading man Takao Osawa who plays a Naval captain who declares his ship a sovereign state. Kohei Yoshino directs this, his third feature from a script by Hikaru Takai, and collaborated with the Japan Maritime Defende Forces to help bring the production to life. Osawa is also producing the film alongside Shinzô Matsuhashi, who is credited for such live-action adaptations as Gintama and Gintama 2, Rurouni Kenshin: Origins, and Shinsuke Sato’s first and second chapters of the Kingdom franchise which also co-stars Osawa. The Silent Service lands a day-and-date theatrical and streaming release in the region on September 29.
