Perhaps there is some light at the end of the seeming long and unending tunnel comprised of failed attempts to transition dated film content to contemporary serial programming. For this instance, Fox’s latest trailer for Lethal Weapon doesn’t really give me much to feel inspired over, and hasn’t been that long since CBS handed down its Supergirl series over to the CW. This, on top of the latter network’s choice to cancel their latest efforts toward a Rush Hour series after the first season has given them a lot of ground to cover in picking up the slack. Any chance you may have come across actor Ethan Hawke’s name in recent history may be due to the fact that a small screen adaptation of the Antoine Fuqua’s hit film, Training Day, is getting a spot on television in the months ahead. I’d call this a pretty momentous occasion now as it seems that word is now out that he’s reportedly in talks to reprise his role in the new series for CBS, thus reuniting with directot Antoine Fuqua for the pilot. CBS Orders Fuqua’s TRAINING DAY To Pilot

Following news from last summer, Deadline reports that CBS has officiallt ordered a pilot for a small screen adaptation of Antoine Fuqua’s award-winning 2001 crime drama, Training Day. The original film, from Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures, earned actor Denzel Washington an Acadamy Award for Best Actor in the role of a morally bent narcotics detective who take a rookie on his first day out for a department evaluation which exposes murder, corruption and betrayal. Washington starred along with actor Ethan Hawke who earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor. Cast details are pending but word has it that the new show, to be written by Gangster Squad scribe Will Beall, will put a small spin on the original film’s narrative with the story set to pake place fifteen years after events of the movie, and the ethinicities of both lead characters switched. There’s something to be said about a certain type of project and the goodness it brings when all the right people come together. In 2000, that very project came in the form of the award-winning crooked cop thriller, Training Day, directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Ethan Hawke and Denzel Washington.
