Wait…what is this bullcrap? I’m laughing. I feel completely toyed with. Dammit Disney! Why??? Yes, we all thought Tron 3 was dead back in 2015 despite reports of produciton presumed to start in Vancouver, B.C. in Canada. Well, depending on how you exhibit and absorb what director Joseph Kosinski had to say about it at a recent screening of the 2010 sequel, Tron: Legacy, you’re either still a complete skeptic or otherwise in a state of relief whilst in the mood to throw something… like a disk of some kind. “I guess I can say that TRON 3 is in cryogenic freeze. As frustrating as it may have been for fans wondering about the future of Walt Disney Pictures’s Tron franchise following the sequel run of Tron: Legacy in 2010, it appears things are finally coming a float. It was early last month when a report broke that a third installment would begin shooting in Vancouver this October (much to the surprise of many) which may or may not have meant the return of actor Garett Hedlund to his previous role on top of speculation over that of actress Olivia Wilde‘s reprisal as well. This week, THR brings official word that both Hedlund and Wilde will be reunited with director Joseph Kosinski for Tron 3 with producer Justin Springer on board. TRON 3 To Begin Filming This October?

It’s not easy getting sequels made for films, particularly for those that bomb. This is no less true for director Joseph Kosinski’s 2010 sci-fi epic, Tron: Legacy from Buena Vista which scored only something to the tune of $172 million in equal to its $170 budget, but gained enough overseas to be considered a success. So what’s the fuss about? Welp, it appears Tron: Legacy is getting a sequel, according to sources at VanCity Buzz cited over at Badass Digest. October 5, 2015 is the date reported for Walt Disney Pictures to begin filming Tron 3 in Vancouver, British Colombia while neither a date nor an expansive cast and crew list have been announced with exception to the mention of actor Garrett Hedlund who starred in the 2010 film.
