NYCC 2016: New Trailers Go Live For UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS And RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER

Leaving no stone unturned, Sony Pictures kept its word on Friday with panels for its dual package of female-centric action and spectacle features, Underworld: Blood Wars and Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Personally, I’ve yet to catch up on some of the films in both franchises – I think I’m short on seeing the previous Resident Evil film and I still only ever saw the first and third Underworld movies. So…yeah. Both of these trailers feel like a ton of ass kicking in-excess. Nontheless I’m pretty sure these titles are officially selling themselves at this point, and regardless as to why some critics may view these films as unnecessary. Loyal fans and folks alike who’ve stuck with the Resident Evil and Underworld franchises in the past decade-and-a-half can now look forward to the next installment of New York Comic Con this October. Screen Gems officially announced panels on Monday for the newest installments of both properties with stars and others in attendance. There’s no question on my end that the overall screen caliber of actress Kate Beckinsale is something distinctively worth appreciating. The Kevin Grevioux-inspired Underworld franchise has been an enduring one with four movies in, and with our leading making it work every step of the way (sans Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans) as a grand fantasy horror epic with stylish action, slick costuming and a brooding atmosphere to fit the bill. Here and now though, we take to the latest treatment of the franchise for a fifth outing with Underworld: Blood Wars, which opens on January 6, 2017 from Screen Gems and Lakeshore Entertainment. Lakeshore, Screen Gems Announce UNDERWORLD: BLOOD WARS For This Year

It was last year that Lakeshore Entertainment announced the production of director Anna Foerster’s induction to the epic Vampire V Lycan saga for the fifth Underworld movie. Apparently as far as titles go, Underworld: Next Generation wasn’t hugely feasible, and so it was through social media that the production waited and deliberated what its newest title will be. That title now comes in the form of actress Kate Beckinsale’s return to lead in Underworld: Blood Wars, which is officially dated for October 14, 2016 from Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems. The Divergent Series co-star Theo James is also rejoining the action horror franchise as is Charles Dance. Tobias Menzies and Lara Pulver round out the cast with James Faulkner, Peter Andersson, newcome actress Clementine Nicholson, and actor Bradley James and Daisy Head.
