Vietnamese Action Is Back With The Promo Teaser For TRUY SAT (TRACER)!

Director Cuong Ngo is ready to put Vietnamese action cinema back in the spotlight with his newest action thriller, Truy Sat (Tracer). Actress Truong Ngoc Anh reunites once more with Ngo followng her role in their stellar 2014 crime flick, Huong Ga, in addition to starring alongside lead actor Thien Nguyen in a story that pits a police woman who sets out to avenge the murder of her family with the help of an undercover cop after a botched attempt to foil a bank robbery. Releasing on February 25, 2014 courtesy of Epic Pictures Group is the long awaited fantasy martial arts swordplay epic, Sword Of The Assassin from writer and director Victor Vu. Known in its native Vietnam as Thiên Mệnh Anh Hùng (later known as Blood Letter), the film is recorded as one of the most expensive films done in Vietnamese film history. The film did hit a few snags during its film festival run in the last couple of years since its completion and release, but genre fans in North America will finally get to see another gem from the Vietnamese action industry on DVD and Blu-Ray next year. Actor and action filmmaker Dustin Nguyen makes his directorial debut in the upcoming domestic release of Once Upon A Time In Vietnam (a.k.a. Lua Phat) on August 22, 2013. With the film having earned the attention of distributors at the Cannes Film Festival back in May, promotion is now heavy and underway. This includes new character posters on popcorn boxes, outdoor banners, public displays of the film’s featured costumes for the movie from designer and creator Bao Tranchi, and the official behind-the-scenes footage of the film currently circulating television networks in Vietnam. The final trailer is online for actor Dustin Nguyen‘s upcoming film, Once Upon A Time In Vietnam. The new trailer comes just a few months after its successful recognition at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. No word yet on a date beyond the theatrical Vietnam release on August 22, 2013, but hopefully this will change. The film is setting up for what appears to be an excellent first for Vietnam film goers as a fantasy based epic adventure, and I look forward to its release. The film is lead actor Dustin Nguyen‘s directorial debut and also stars Veronica Ngo, Jason Ninh Cao, Thai Hoa and Dinh Ngoc Diep, along with Roger Yuan who also served as the film’s fight choreographer with action director Bui Van Hai. Banned Vietnamese Action Film CHO LON Leaked Online, Investigation Now Underway

In a startling update for the dead-on-arrival Vietnamese martial arts gangster thriller, Bui Doi Cho Lon, Twitchfilm delivered a report this week that the film was briefly leaked online. As if the film being banned by Vietnamese censors wasn’t bad enough, director Charlie Nguyen gave a statement expressing his own sadness for how his film is being treated by online internet users. “Leaving the side the issue of BDCL being banned, or who leaked the film without considering the heavy losses to the filmmakers and the danger they face before the law.” he says. “I was totally shocked and deeply hurt as if someone had killed my child. Vietnam will get a first hand look at all the action when ONCE UPON A TIME IN VIETNAM (a.k.a. Lua Phat) gets its explosive theatrical release on August 22, 2013. The film is directed by, as well as starring Dustin Nguyen. The film also sees Dustin back on the screen with Vietnamese femme fatale Thanh Van Ngo, with whom he also starred in opposite Vietnamese action lead Johnny Tri Nguyen in THE REBEL.
