PLAY DEAD: Voltage Launching Sales On New Suspense Thriller From ‘Drive Angry’ Director
Voltage will launch international sales on the new feature, Play Dead, from director Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine, Dracula 2000). The film is currently in post-production and will be on display for distributors at the upcoming Marche du Film at Cannes. Written by Adam Mason and Simon Boys (Blood River, Song Bird, Hangman), Play Dead centers on criminology student Chloe (Bailee Madison) who fakes her own death in order to break into a local small-town morgue to steal a piece of evidence that ties her younger brother to a crime. Once inside, she quickly learns that the coroner (Jerry O’Connell) is using the morgue as a front for his sick and twisted business: selling body parts. Just after wrapping Isaac Florentine’s Hounds Of War, actor Frank Grillo is setting sail with occult thriller, Man’s Son. Production kicks off this month in Yucca Valley, California, marking the feature directing debut for noted cinematographer Remy Grillo. The film also stars Jamie King (“Black Summer”), and Tangled actors Katherine Hughes and Josh Plasse, and is now adding Will Peltz (Unfriended), Sarah Dumont (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and Sydelle Noel (Netflix’s “Glow”) to the cast. Gerard Butler Action Thriller CHASE Launches At Cannes For Voltage And CAA
Principal photography has since wrapped in Savannah, Georgia on action thriller, Chase, as of May, and with word out of Cannes that Voltage Pictures is repping international rights and will introduce to buyers immediately, with first-look footage to follow shortly. Voltage will co-rep US rights with CAA. Chase comes from director Brian Goodman (Black Butterfly, What Doesn’t Kill You) from a script by Marc Frydman (Black Butterfly), and stars Gerard Butler (Greenland, Angel Has Fallen, 300) as Will Spann, who pairs with the in-laws to engage the local Sheriff’s department in a frantic effort to find his missing wife, Lisa, when she disappears at a gas station without a trace. Voltage Pictures is officially launching sales this week for Reagan, a new biopic based on the life of the 40th President of the United States. Director Sean McNamara (Cats & Dogs 3) is directing the pic, currently in production and is expected to wrap shortly, according to an announcement on Wednesday. Dennis Quaid (Midway) and Penelope Ann Miller (The Bronx Bull) will star in the respective roles of title character, and of First Lady, Nancy Reagan. Steven Spielberg’s 1971 classic road suspense thriller, Duel, and Jonathan Mostow’s 1997 Kurt Russell-led Breakdown are now the ideal composition and tone set for David Loughery’s new airborne thriller, Blackwing. Voltage Pictures is backing the picture adding to its production slate with Voltage chief Nicolas Chartier producing with Dominic Rustam, and president and COO Jonathan Deckter exec producer with Brad Kaplan and Loughery.
