48 HRS: ‘Good Time’ Helmers To Remake Walter Hill’s Action Comedy Classic

In a move that surprises probably no one, a major Hollywood studio is officially on the verge of another remake of a cinematic class. Enter 48 Hrs, directed by Walter Hill and released in 1982 as an inaugural entry into the era of buddy cop movies of its time starring Eddie Murphy and Nick Nolte. The film was an action comedy hit that centered on a reluctant partnership between a San Francisco detective in search of two cop killers, and his only lead: a former criminal associate doing time following a botched heist of half-a-million dollars from a drug dealer stashed in his own car. TOMBOY Arrives On UK Digital HD and DVD This March And April

Director Walter Hill’s latest action thriller hasn’t yet picked up steam in the U.S. for its release but it’s getting the Digital HD and DVD treatment when Tomboy arrives respectively in the U.K. on March 13 and April 3. And yes, you read correctly. That’s the title they get whereas the title in other markets may be anywhere from (Re)Assignment to The Assignment… My guess is it will be the latter for its U.S. release via Saban – an otherwise workable bit of wordplay for a title given the premise, although Tomboy would have been a wonderful move, universally. Frank Kitchen is an assassin at the top of his game. With TIFF still in full swing, much is also ado with Saban Films’s most recent acquisition – director Walter Hill’s latest movie, (Re)assignment. However, don’t call it that title in front of neither Hill nor lead actress Michelle Rodriguez who leads the film as male assassin who seeks revenge after he’s double crossed by gangsters and given gender-reassignment surgery at the behest of a sinister plastic surgeon, played by actress Sigourney Weaver. The initial title upon the actress’s signing of the dotted line was Tomboy: A Revenger’s Tale and as you’ll see in the video here or below if you can see the player, Rodriguez discuss the title and their reason for their preference toward it, among other things regarding the film’s intentions as nothing more than an action-genre noir title. One such title now making the rounds comes by way of The Solution Entertainment group who are shopping their latest assassin flick, Tomboy, to buyers. Veteran action movie helmer Walter Hill is attached to direct the film from his own script co-written with Denis Hamill which focuses on a top hitman who sets out for revenge when he is subsequently betrayed and captured by “The Doctor” who subsequently gives him a sex change.
