THE HIT LIST – October 5, 2015

Last week’s Hit List was crazy-loaded with fight gems. Incidentally, there are a few that I missed in the last few weeks and I’m more than happy to include those as well, and I’ll be throwing in at least one throwback in here that I felt compelled to share. UK filmmaker Robin Schmidt‘s on going endeavors in the action genre remain to be seen following the completion of his latest shortfilm, Dog. However, considering the accolades he and the other half of his indie platform, We Are Supermassive, lead actor Simon Wan have received during their film festival run this year, one may hope that if not a sequel, that another action-packed project from the duo may come to pass. Moreover, having reviewed Dog for myself, I can certainly say it has been a proven experiment in bringing much-needed martial arts action to the U.K. Its evolution from a once two-part hip-hop music video to an award-winning, eccentric, full-blown and thrilling crime drama with trippy visuals to enhance the psychosis of our demented anti-hero, coupled with brutal action sequences by Chris Jones and own Leeds-based stunt team, SG Action, make Dog an otherwise excellent treat to enjoy. Simon Wan Is A Bloody Mess In The New Poster For DOG

If you have at all been following the latest updates from UK-based film groups SG Action and We Are Supermassive this year, among other things you may have noticed were also a series of several poster and banner pieces for their latest upcoming shortfilm collaboration, Dog. Today, we have a brand new poster illustrating the gritty vision shared by the film’s ambitious writer and director Robin Schmidt and featured actor and producer Simon Wan. The Official Poster For Indie Action Short, DOG, Is Online

The new official poster is online for the upcoming short film, Dog, starring Simon Wan, Martin Wan, and Sophia Del Pizzo. Take a look: Written and directed by independent filmmaker Robin Schmidt, the short film is a continuation of initial efforts in early 2013 to make a movie prior to working with MTA records to produce a dual-themed two-part cinematic action packed hip hop music video featuring rap artist and musician, Dream McClean. Since then, the music videos saw potential for Schmidt and cast and crew, including the UK martial arts stunt team, SG Action, led by Dog stunt coordinator Chris Jones. And with the successful crowdfunding that followed, Schmidt was able to film the scenes he needed to help bring Dog to its fullest potential as a quality induction into independent action cinema history.
