Celebrated stunt laureate and actress Zoë Bell is gearing up to shoot rock climbing action thriller Free Fall. Zachary Levi of Shazam and Harold And The Purple Crayon fame will headline the film with cameras set to roll in New Zealand later this year. Written by Sean Finegan and Gregg Maxwell Parker, Free Fall tells the story of a father’s attempt to reconcile with his estranged daughter in New Zealand on a rock-climbing trip that turns deadly as an accident leaves them stranded hundreds of feet in the air. The first official look at writer/director Joe Carnahan’s new survival thriller Not Without Hope is now online with sales agent Highland Film Group announcing locked distribution deals in key international territories. Zachary Levi (Shazam! Fury of the Gods), Josh Duhamel (Transformers franchise), JoBeth Williams (The Big Chill), Quentin Plair (Hulu’s “Welcome to Chippendales”), Terrence Terrell (Netflix’s “Obliterated”) Marshall Cook (NBC’s “Parenthood”), and Floriana Lima (Disney+’s “The Punisher”) star in the pic which wrapped its Malta shoot in June. Joe Carnahan will write and direct Not Without Hope, which is casting Zachary Levi (upcoming Shazam! Fury of the Gods) in the lead for the film’s April shoot in Louisana. The film centers on four best friends – Nick Schuyler (Levi) and Will Bleakley, and NFL players Marquis Cooper and Corey Smith – for whom a fishing trip from Clearwater, Florida to their favorite spot seventy miles out in the Gulf Of Mexico turns into a nightmare scenario. A trapped anchor causes their boat to capsize, violently throwing them into the freezing ocean just as a severe storm heads their way. I suppose time will tell how the DCU pans out under the watch of James Gunn and Peter Safran at Warner Bros. Picutres. It doesn’t help that we no longer have Henry Cavill in the mix or the promise of things staying cohesive after The Flash, and the fate Black Adam post-Dwayne Johnson in the air, but fans otherwise have a few more months until Zachary Levi’s return in David F. Sandberg’s Shazam: Fury Of The Gods, opening on March 17. Some of the prior cast is returning as well, along with the additions of Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu, and with Djimon Honsou reprising his role as our protagonist’s grisled titular benefactor, and you can check them all out in the brand new trailer now online.

RITES OF MEN: ‘Shazam’ Star Leads New Revenge Drama For ‘Bad Day For The Cut’ Director

DC fans are only a few years off from a sequel to actor Zachary Levi’s 2019 hit, Shazam. Until then, as of announcements last week, folks can look forward to his newest dramatic endevaor, Rites Of Men, from award-winning director Chris Baugh (Bad Day For The Cut). Levi will star from a script by Oscar-nominated writer Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton, upcoming Scarface remake), about a man who will stop at nothing to find his 16-year-old son’s killers. During his mission, he finds the strength to forgive and become a better person. Herman will also be creatively involved throughout the production process. Vedette Finance CEO Anthony Jabre (Heist, Aftermath, upcoming 14 Fists) will produce with veteran Bob Cooper of Landscape Entertainment.

New Line's SHAZAM! Is Underway In Toronto

Monday saw the official production starts of New Line Cinema’s Shazam! from director David F. Sandberg. Zachary Levi stars in the title role along with Asher Angel as his young counterpart, Billy Batson, inspired by the Whiz Comics 1940 launch from creators Bill Parker and C.C. Beck. Scribes Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke penned the script as an origin tale that also has Mark Strong starring as the film’s principal villain, and with Toronto serving as the film’s Philidelphia, Pennsylvania backdrop. Previous rumors have stirred about as to whether or not executive producer Dwayne Johnson will make his appearance in the long held role of Black Adam for which he is expected to shepherd his own movie.
