If you’ve been keeping an eye on Korean horror properties this year, you might have caught onto at least two now set to arrive sometime very soon. For this, it’s high time this week with an official teaser now online for the new Korean period creature feature, Monstrum, following its U.S. acquisition by AMC’s Shudder streaming service.
Huh Jung-Ho sits in the director’s chair for the story set during the 22nd year of Joseon King Jung Jong who summons a retired general to quell the panic among the residents of Mount Inwangsan as rumors spreads of a mythical man-eating beast. Alas, it’s a myth clearly proven as our protagonist is joined by his daughter, his right-hand man and a royal court officer to hunt down the creature once and for all.
Headlining the cast are Kim Myung-Min, Kim In-Kwon, and Girl’s Day member and recording artist Hyeri making her debut feature, with actors Choi Woo-Sik, Lee Kyoung-Young, Park Hee-Soon and Park Sung-Woong also starring. Lotte Entertainment will release the film in Korea on September 19.
