THE DOORMAN: Lionsgate Nabs New Ruby Rose Action Thriller

Actress Ruby Rose is riding high this week having emerged in Thursday’s trailer for the Fall premiere of Batwoman on The CW. She’s also remained consistent in her big screen endeavors following roles in xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage, John Wick: Chapter Two and shark thriller, The Meg, now staking her claim with her latest action role in The Doorman with a release now being planned thanks to Lionsgate’s U.S. acquisition of the film at Cannes.

A heist to steal priceless art from decades ago; a prestigious building housing New York’s elite over countless years; and a doorman…unlike any other. From director, Ryuhei Kitamura of Midnight Meat Train comes DOORMAN, an action packed thriller featuring Ali Gorski, a highly decorated ex-military sergeant turned doorman of The Carrington. During the Thanksgiving weekend, while all but few of the tenants are away and The Carrington is under renovations, a seedy plot to steal priceless artwork hidden deep within the walls of the building ensues. However, among the tenants that stayed behind for the holiday are Ali’s niece and nephew. Ali soon realizes that the only thing between them and the murderous thieves – is her.

The film, which also stars Jean Reno, hails from cult director fave, Ryuhei Kitamura, who emerged in the late 1990s making his own obscure low budget horror indies after quitting film school. With films like Heat After Dark, Down To Hell, Versus, Alive, Azumi, Aragami and LoveDeath in his wake among others, Kitamura segued to the U.S. to direct Midnight Meattrain, No One Lives and sniper suspense thriller, Downrange, as well as partake on the June 21 release of horror anthology, Nightmare Cinema, from Cranked Up Films.

Double Dutch International is repping international sales rights for The Doorman at Cannes. (SCREENDAILY)
