THE FURIOUS: Kenji Tanigaki’s New Summer Actioner Delayed Until June
Director Kenji Tanigaki’s newest action-packed ensemble thriller, The Furious, has been on riding high on buzz since punching festival audiences in the face late last year. The film, long since acquired by Lionsgate for a May 29 release, is now set for June 12.
Produced by Edko Films Ltd., XYZ Films and Zhejiang Hengdian Film Production, the film stars Xie Miao and Joe Taslim, and follows a simple tradesman thrust into the fight of his life when his daughter is brutally kidnapped. Upon joining forces with a deep cover reporter investigating his wife’s disappearance, the two will stop at nothing to bring down a major criminal organization, ensuing an all-out barn burner showdown between the good, the bad, and THE FURIOUS.
I can’t believe I wrote all that, but that all comes from having seen the movie recently. I need to see this on the big screen again because the experience was impeccable, and I couldn’t stop tinkering with my review all week, which will likely go up the week of the film’s release. I also have at least one interview in the pipeline, and he’s someone I’ve spoken to before. You all know him.
June 12, guys. Clock it.
